PTG doesn't happen in one dramatic moment. There's no mountaintop revelation that fixes everything. It's built in daily reps — small, repeatable commitments that compound over time into something that looks, from a distance, like a new life.

Veterans understand this better than most. You know what discipline looks like. You know what it means to do the thing when you don't feel like it — because the mission required it. That muscle is still there. The only thing changing is what mission it serves.

Pick one practice and do it for 21 days straight. Here are some options:

✏️ Five minutes of journaling after you wake up. Just write what's true — no editing.

🚶 A ten-minute walk without your phone.

📱 Text one person a day to let them know you're thinking about them.

🌙 Name three specific things you're grateful for before bed — not general, specific.

Not because any of this fixes everything. Because identity is built through action, not intention. Who you are becoming is built one rep at a time. Do the rep.

On October 23, 1983, a su***de truck bomb destroyed the U.S. Marine barracks in Beirut, Lebanon, killing 241 American service members on a peacekeeping mission. It was the deadliest single day for the Marine Corps since Iwo Jima.

They came in peace. Never forgotten, forever honored.

Available plates include:

🔹 Standard Veteran

🔹 Combat Veteran

🔹 Purple Heart

🔹 Medal of Honor

🔹 POW/MIA

🔹 Branch-specific plates (Army, Navy, Marines, Air Force, Coast Guard, Space Force)

How to get yours:

✅ Start at your local ADVA Veteran Service Office — bring your DD-214, and they issue the eligibility affidavit

✅ Take the affidavit to your county license/probate office

✅ Ask specifically about fee reductions based on your disability rating

Beyond the financial benefit — these plates are a visible statement of service every time you're on an Alabama road. Wear your service with pride. Share with every Alabama veteran. 🇺🇸

On October 12, 2000, su***de bombers in a small boat attacked the destroyer USS Cole as it refueled in the port of Aden, Yemen. Seventeen American sailors were killed and dozens wounded.

💙 INTEL DROP: The PCAFC caregiver stipend is a real monthly payment based on federal GS-4 pay for your area — and the primary caregiver also receives VA healthcare coverage through CHAMPVA.

The stipend amount is determined by the veteran's care needs tier and the geographic area where you live. It is not one-size-fits-all — it reflects the actual demands of the care you're providing.

Here is the breakdown:

✅ Stipend: Level 1 caregivers receive 62.5% and Level 2 caregivers receive 100% of the monthly GS-4 rate for their area — in VA's published example that came to about $1,800 and $2,900 per month, and rates rise with annual federal pay adjustments

✅ CHAMPVA healthcare coverage for primary caregiver if not otherwise insured

✅ Mental health services included for the caregiver

✅ Secondary caregivers receive training and education support (not the stipend)

SEPTEMBER 2026 — BY THE NUMBERS

September was another strong month of connection, support, and community for Alabama’s veterans.

Because of our supporters, volunteers, community partners, and everyone who continues to believe in the mission, Alabama Veteran supported 105 veterans this month.

Here’s what that impact looked like:

• 105 Veterans Supported in Total
• 27 Female Veterans attended our Women’s Warrior Retreat
• 35 Veterans connected through our Topgolf Community Engagement Initiative
• 12 Veterans received direct assistance
• 31 Veterans were connected through community referrals

We also want to give a special shoutout to MOB Inc. and Motors on Main in Leeds for inviting Alabama Veteran to be part of their event. Thank you to everyone who stopped by, talked with our team, learned more about the mission, and showed your support for Alabama’s veterans.

A special thank you also goes to BondFire Ranch and the Birmingham Vet Center for their continued partnership in helping provide equine-assisted learning opportunities for our veterans. Partnerships like these allow us to create meaningful experiences, build connection, and continue helping veterans find purpose and community beyond the uniform.

These numbers represent more than statistics. They represent veterans making connections, finding resources, building relationships, and realizing they do not have to navigate life after service alone.

None of this happens without the people who continue to show up for Alabama’s veterans. Thank you for standing with us.
