Every fall, The Great Pumpkin Smash sends our community’s pumpkins back to the earth instead of the trash, and here is why that matters. Composting means less landfill waste, cleaner air, and healthy soil for local farms, gardens, and raised beds. 🌱🍂

We’ll need pumpkins to smash! 🎃 Drop yours off between sunrise & sunset, Sunday, Nov 1 to Sunday, Nov 8 at the New Entry Collection Bins at the new community gardens parking lot, 779 Cabot Street. Kindly remove candles and plastic accessories before dropping off.

Ready to start composting? Black Earth offers curbside pickup, and Beverly residents save $20 a year. You can also begin at home with a countertop compost caddy.

This month’s topic: Brew Up Savings at beantrust ☕️

What does it take to lower your energy bills and keep your home comfortable all year? Join us Sunday, October 18th from 1-3 PM at beantrust coffeebar to explore it together over drinks and good food. Green Beverly’s Energy Advocate, Tracy Danner, will share ways to save money and make your home more comfortable. You can also bring in or access a copy of your utility bill for a personal review.

Come with questions, come with curiosity, come as you are. If possible, bike or carpool to get there, and dress for the weather! 🚲

Green Beverly volunteers joined another wonderful volunteer afternoon at New Entry Sustainable Farming Project on Friday, and the weather was perfect! 🍂

Tara, Shane, and Ashley from New Entry worked on the pollinator plot alongside Green Beverly volunteers Lauren and Alison. The group also planted a small swale and were rewarded with flowers from the cutting garden. Thank you to everyone at New Entry for the warm welcome! 🌱

Mass Save scam attempts are on the rise, and Beverly residents are receiving these calls now. At Green Beverly, we want our community to be informed and protected.

Key reminders:
• Mass Save is a brand run by utilities. There are no “Mass Save employees,” and it does not partner with solar or third-party energy suppliers.
• Never share bills, ID, or financial information in response to an unexpected call, text, email, or door knock.
• Use the Mass Save Find a Contractor tool before hiring, and call 1-866-527-SAVE (7283) if you’re unsure.
• Report fraud at ReportFraud.ftc.gov.
