The Children's Center for Communication / Beverly School for the Deaf Founded in 1876, Beverly School for the Deaf is one of the oldest schools for Deaf and hard of Hearing children in the U.S.

Our Mission : Enhancing lives of deaf and/or disabled individuals, their families, and communities through person-centered, specialized educational programming in a language-rich, inclusive environment. While much has changed since then, the school remains committed to providing exceptional education for children who are deaf, hard-of-hearing, or who have other special communication and learning needs. In the 1980s the school expanded its educational opportunities to include children with many secondary issues including Autism, Cerebral Palsy, developmental delays, and physical challenges. In 2008, to more accurately reflect our mission and student community, the school’s name was changed to The Children’s Center for Communication/Beverly School for the Deaf. Today, the school and its two support programs The Children’s Center for Communication (CCC) and The Beverly School for the Deaf (BSD) are more diverse than ever, serving close to 150 children and their families from 40 communities.

October is also AAC Awareness Month! Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) includes tools such as iPads, computer systems, printed icons, and photographs. Most CCCBSD students use AAC to communicate.

Explore AAC systems with Halloween vocabulary during the event, and visit our playground’s permanent communication board to see how it supports communication during play.

Congratulations, Caleb, on this big success. We are so proud of all you have accomplished.

To Caleb's family, thank you for trusting us to be part of this chapter. To the teachers, therapists, and staff who supported him, thank you for the care and hard work that helped get him here. And to his classmates and friends, thank you for making CCCBSD a place where he belonged.

We are going to miss you so much, Caleb. Our school community is better for having you in it, and we are excited to see what comes next. Wishing you all the best in your future.

Purple everywhere today! 💜 Our students and staff came together in purple to recognize Rett Syndrome Awareness Month.

Rett syndrome is a rare neurological disorder that affects how a person moves, communicates, and breathes. At CCCBSD, we believe every person has something to say, and we work every day to help our students find the tools to say it.

CCCBSD is proud to stand alongside Emma Grace, her family, and our incredible community as we celebrate people with Down syndrome and recognize the many ways they enrich our schools, families, and communities.
October is Down Syndrome Awareness Month—a time to celebrate abilities, promote inclusion and belonging, and raise awareness about the importance of opportunity, acceptance, and connection for individuals with Down syndrome.

Fun Friday Fact! Who is our mascot?

In 1964, Beverly School for the Deaf’s basketball team had four players named Bob: Robert Kincaid, Bob Morin, Bob Levesque, and Bob Belanger. Their shared name inspired the Bobcat mascot!

From historic logos to our modern Bobcat wearing CCC and BSD on its varsity jacket, our mascot carries a story that connects generations of our CCCBSD community.

869 runners came together at the Lone Gull 10K to support CCCBSD. Every step reflected a community that believes in our students and what is possible for them.
