What does it take to build a career studying the brain and nervous system?
Standish-Sterling Central students had the opportunity to find out during a Lunch with a Professional event featuring Dr. Cheng-Yu Lee, a neurological researcher from the University of Michigan!
Organized by Michigan Works! Region 7B Career Navigator and Jobs for Michigan's Graduates Specialist Katie Bouldin, the event gave students the chance to hear directly from Dr. Lee about his career journey, what he enjoys about his work, and the many career opportunities available in neurology and neurological research.
During the discussion, Dr. Lee answered students’ questions, shared insights into his professional experience, and explored ways students can begin pursuing interests in neurological research and related fields.
Experiences like these help students look beyond the classroom, connect with professionals, and discover career paths they may not have considered before. By learning directly from someone working in the field, students gained a better understanding of the opportunities available and the steps they can take to explore careers in science and research.
