Today, August 4, is Michigan’s Statewide Primary Election, and your voice matters.

Polls are open 7:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. If you’re in line by 8:00 p.m., you have the right to vote.

Need to register or update your address? You can still do so today at your local clerk’s office, where you’ll also be able to cast your ballot.

Every election is an opportunity to shape the future of your community. Make your plan, head to the polls, and encourage your family and friends to vote.

This year, Berrien Forward was proud to have Tyler Laske serve as a Campus Organizer through our Engage Program.

Tyler played an important role in helping students get involved and make their voices heard across campus communities in Southwest Michigan. Through his outreach and leadership, he helped register 60 students to vote, secured 125 student voter pledges and engaged 400+ students while working with us.

At Berrien Forward, we believe young people care deeply about their communities. The Engage Program is about showing up consistently, building relationships, and investing in students as leaders, not just during election season, but year-round.

Berrien Forward had an eventful Saturday as we joined the community ahead of this year’s Blossomtime Parade. Our Executive Director Chokwe Pitchford, alongside Michigan Lieutenant Governor Garlin Gilchrist, spent time walking through Downtown Benton Harbor, connecting with residents, and hearing directly about the issues that matter most to them.

From meaningful conversations to celebrating community spirit, it was a great opportunity to engage with families, local leaders, and neighbors from across Southwest Michigan. Thank you to everyone who stopped to talk with us and helped make the day special.
