Sunrise Family Resource Center

Sunrise Family Resource Center Sunrise is Bennington County's Parent Child Center (PCC), part of the Vermont PCC Network. Sunrise was designated as Bennington County’s Parent Child Center.

Bennington Child Day Care opened in March 1969 “to provide quality care to the children of working mothers.” By 1984, our services had expanded well beyond their initial mission to include parental support and educational services to families as well. Reflecting this growing role, we changed our name to Sunrise Family Resource Center. Legislation passed in 1986 and Parent Child Centers were creat

ed throughout Vermont, to provide a variety of family-centered programs in order to help all families get off to a healthy start. Many of the services offered are available to all families within our communities, while some are tailored to families with particular concerns. Over the years Sunrise has expanded, adding educational and support groups, family out-reach programs, community childcare support services, and a range of services to young parents. Our Learning Together program, provides an alternative education and mentoring experience for teen parents wishing to complete their high school diploma. Sunrise staff work closely with families, other area agencies, schools and groups to provide comprehensive, flexible and individually responsive services. The MISSION of Sunrise is “Strengthening Families”. Sunrise works in partnership with individuals, families, and community members to provide a variety of supports and services. These services promote the growth and development of individuals and families through encouragement of strengths, expansion of opportunities, and support in times of stress. Sunrise’s VISION:
ALL families have the strengths and resources to reach their full potential. Our Core Values:
 All families have unique strengths.
 Families and providers learn together as partners.
 Hope makes change possible.

Would you like to contribute a rock to our rock hunt?

Sunrise is hosting a community rock hunt for the month of June and looking for a few more rocks for the hunt. Let us know if you would like to help. Rocks will be distributed for the hunt to go live on Tuesday, June 2nd.

See photo for more details.

We’re excited to announce Sunrise Family Resource Center’s Community Scavenger Hunt, happening this Spring —and we’d love for you to be part of the fun!

We’re inviting local businesses, organizations, and community members to contribute a decorated rock (about 6–8 inches in diameter, or roughly the size of two fists) to be hidden throughout Bennington. Themed or creatively painted rocks are especially welcome—they add to the surprise and delight of the activity!

We’re aiming to collect 20–25 rocks to feature in the scavenger hunt. Beginning on June 1st, families will explore the community, searching for each hidden rock. Participants will take selfies with the rocks they find and submit their photos to show they’ve completed the hunt.

All rocks will be displayed during Sunrise’s Summer Jam on Saturday, June 27th, where families who completed the scavenger hunt will be entered into a prize raffle.

If you’d like to contribute a painted rock, please contact:
