You are invited to attend BHS open meetings on the second Tuesday of even-numbered months, usually beginning at 7 p.m.

Incorporated on May 16, 2011, the Belmar Historical Society is an all-volunteer organization dedicated to the restoration, preservation and acquisition of Belmar sites and materials. Although most meetings are held at the Community Room of Belmar Boro Hall, 6th Avenue entrance, special events are held off-site. 🧙Last night the Belmar Historical Society participated in Trunk or Treat at Dempsey Park, hosted by Belmar Recreation. Our thanks to trustees Karen & Spencer Heulitt for passing out treats and spooky eyeballs to all the ghosts and goblins!

There will also be a brief introduction on how to search property records.

🙏 NEW EXHIBIT ALERT! St. Rose R.C. Church began as a mission church of Holy Spirit Parish in Asbury Park in 1888 in a small wooden chapel on 2nd Avenue. The Belmar Historical Society's new mini exhibit displays a more permanent wooden Church which originally occupied the corner of 7th and E Sts. This wooden Church was moved to the west of the Rectory to make room for the present Gothic stone Church built in 1926 and proudly celebrates its 100th anniversary this year.

The exhibit also features a photo of the original pipe organ which boasts 24 ranks, 102 stops and 1,800 pipes; original stained glass windows obtained from Austria, a photo of the 1926 cornerstone, and a handwritten post card with the message, “This is the Church I go to on Sunday” dated Aug. 1907.

You can view the display at Belmar Boro Hall, 6th Avenue entrance, during open business hours.
