๐Ÿ’— Meet Nina! ๐Ÿ’—

Nina is a 6-year-old, 34-pound Bulldog mix who has spent much of her younger life being a mama. Now, this sweet girl is ready for the best part of her life โ€” being someoneโ€™s beloved family member! ๐Ÿฅฐ

Nina is truly the complete package. She is incredibly social and would happily spend every minute of the day right by your side. She has a good history with both dogs and children, although we don't know how she feels about cats. And just look at that beautiful face and the cutest little underbite you've ever seen! ๐Ÿ˜

At just 34 pounds, Nina is compact, easy to manage, and the perfect size to fit into almost any household.

Nina came to us as a surrender to Law Enforcement. When she arrived at our veterinary clinic, we discovered she had been dealing with several chronic issues, including ear infections, dry eye (keratoconjunctivitis), pododermatitis, and allergic dermatitis. She also needed two masses removed, along with some dental work. During her spay, our vet discovered an old C-section scar โ€” another reminder of just how much this little girl has been through.

Thankfully, Nina's medical needs have been addressed and she is now ready to move forward! She is spayed, up to date on vaccinations, heartworm negative and on preventatives, and microchipped. Her complete medical summary and dental chart are available for her prospective family.

This girl loves you even though she hasn't met you yet. โค๏ธ She is patiently waiting for her turn to be someone's best friend โ€” and we know that lucky family is going to adore her!

If you think Nina might be your girl, or you'd like to meet her, please contact Susi at the shelter, they are happy to transport her to the right home if needed.

Please help us share Nina's story. Her forever family is out there! ๐Ÿพ๐Ÿ’•

We are thrilled to welcome Bella and Davinci to MidAtlantic Bulldog Rescue! โค๏ธ

๐Ÿ’• Bella is a sweet 4-year-old female who is being fostered in Neptune. Her family simply didnโ€™t have enough time for her, and we are so happy we could step in to help. Her foster family already LOVES her, and we have a feeling Bella is going to be very spoiled! ๐Ÿฅฐ

Bella needs to be spayed and will be receiving her medical care at Richmond Valley Vet.

๐Ÿ’™ Davinci was sprung from the Tinton Falls shelter today by a wonderful family with many years of bulldog experience. He was found as a stray in Newark and is estimated to be about 4 years old. Davinci is already neutered but needs entropion surgery. He will also be seeing the wonderful team at Richmond Valley Vet.

Two more bulldogs safe, loved and getting the care they need. Happy lives ahead for these two cuties! ๐Ÿถโค๏ธ๐Ÿถ

Welcome to the MidAtlantic family, Bella & Davinci! We canโ€™t wait to see what the future holds for you! ๐Ÿพ

Please keep our treasured volunteer Jenna and her family in your hearts as they mourn the heartbreaking loss of their sweet boy, Bruce. ๐Ÿ’”๐Ÿพ

Bruce was deeply loved and will be missed more than words can say. We are sending Jenna and her family our love, comfort, and deepest condolences during this incredibly difficult time.

Run free, sweet Bruce. You were so very loved. ๐ŸŒˆ๐Ÿพโค๏ธ

His family writes....
Three years ago at our BullyBash fundraiser, one of our rescues named Bruce sat in a box. It may seem that a bulldog sitting in a box is not such a phenomenon, but believe us, it was momentous. That day he was crowned Bruce in the Box and our events have not been the same.
We are so sad to share the news that on August 25, just two weeks shy of his 12th birthday, Bruce left this world to cross the rainbow bridge.

Bruce was rescued twice in his life, first from a puppy mill on a farm, and then by MidAtlantic Bulldog Rescue after circumstances in his family had changed. He has been a part of our family since January 2022 and while he endured some challenges, losses, and changes in that time, he was always sweet and loving and absolutely wonderful.

Bruce was a comfort to his brother Winslow in his last year, a pillow when he needed a place to rest his head. Then he comforted us, always giving his best care to his girl. He welcomed Brutus and his foster sister Cookie with patience when they both arrived as rescues. He taught us how to savor sweet moments, sunny spots, porch sits, cuddles on the couch, and the slowest walks you can imagine. Top sp*ed was a shuffle, and that only occurred when he was making his getaway with a stolen box!

He was the perfect representation of what we love about bulldogs and that may be why Bruce in the Box was such a sensation. He brought so many smiles to everybody who saw him and returned the love in his own way.

To anyone who has asked "Is that Bruce in the Box?" or taken a picture with him, made a donation to the rescue in his honor, fallen in love with him, sat with him or smiled at him... Thank you. He loved you too. We gave him kisses for you.

Fudge Has Found His Forever Home! โค๏ธ๐Ÿพ

Fudge has found his forever home! This sweet boy will be 4 in September, and we are so happy to say that his journey has finally led him to exactly where he belongs.

Somehow, Fudge ended up in a shelter. He was adopted, but sadly his adopter could no longer keep him and gave him to a friend. She contacted us for help. She absolutely loved Fudge, but he needed medical care that she simply couldnโ€™t afford.

Enter Amy & Nick! They were ready to welcome another bulldog into their home, and somehow, all the stars aligned. โœจ

After a month of fostering, where Fudge received the medical care he needed, along with plenty of love and attention, he is now officially adopted! ๐ŸŽ‰โค๏ธ

Fudge absolutely adores his new sister Khallie, and he has fit into his new family perfectly. We couldnโ€™t be happier for this sweet boy!

Happy life, Fudge! You deserve every bit of happiness coming your way. ๐Ÿฅฐ๐Ÿพโค๏ธ

Last night was one of those nights that reminded us just how many truly good people are out there.

We had the honor of attending the South Jersey Region Antique Automobile Club of Americaโ€™s car show in Woodstown, held in memory of their friend and member, Frank Todd.

At the end of the night, they presented MidAtlantic Bulldog Rescue with an incredible check for $2,400 from the proceeds of the event!!

But the generosity didnโ€™t stop there.

The woman running the food truck donated all of her tips to the rescue.

A woman who had recently lost her own bulldog donated food and treats in his memory.

And even the 50/50 winner donated the winnings right back to us.

It was just that kind of night.

There were so many generous people there who wanted to help our bulldogs!! We left feeling incredibly grateful.

Thank you to everyone who organized the show, brought out their beautiful cars, donated, stopped to talk with us and made us feel so welcome.

And most of all, thank you for allowing us to be part of such a beautiful tribute to Frank. His memory helped do a whole lot of good last night and we are so grateful to have been a small part of it.

Here are some photos!

Please keep our dear friends Nikki & Keith in your thoughts and prayers as they mourn the heartbreaking loss of their sweet boy, Thrall. ๐Ÿ’”๐Ÿพ

Thrall was deeply loved and will be missed more than words can express. We are sending Nikki & Keith love, comfort, and strength during this incredibly difficult time. โค๏ธ

On a winter day in 2018, Keith and I were asked to pick up a bulldog to foster. He was a year and a half old, and absolutely adorable. We had a few hurdles to overcome โ€“ the first night in the house, he p*ed on anything that looked like a p*e pad. I recall picking up every single floor mat and saying to him โ€œha, now what?!โ€. By some miracle, he seemed to understand and learned to wait by the door when he needed to do his business. He was afraid of his leash and the car since that meant in his previous home that he was going to the vet. We made sure to take him everywhere with us to help him get used to things. After all, we were preparing him to get adopted, right?
After a month or so, I called Cathy and told her that we planned to make this sweet boy part of our family. He was just too special to let go. We formally adopted him at Bullypalooza ๐Ÿ˜Š
Thrall was our 3rd bulldog. Each one had a great personality, but there was just something different about Thrall. I used to always tell him that he was the best bulldog ever, and it was true. This boy was special. He was also quite a piece of work! We had entered each of our bullies into a bulldog beauty contest, sponsored by Mack Trucks. Our first two boys had fun going to the event each year. Thrall had a blast! One year he placed 3rd, and the following year, he won 1st place! That was the last year they had the contest โ€“ I think itโ€™s because they knew no one could top him! ๐Ÿ˜‰
If he didnโ€™t want to get out of bed, we had to get โ€œhisโ€ Parmesan cheese out of the fridge and put it under his nose. He would have followed that cheese anywhere! Our friends and dog sitters knew, if you need to get him out to do his business, go grab that parm! He would come running any time the cheese drawer in the fridge would open. One of his favorite games was to catch a slice of provolone like a frisbee! Itโ€™s amazing how quick that cheese would disappear!
Thrall loved to stop and smell the flowers in the yard. If I had a bouquet in the house, he would want to smell that too. It was truly adorable โ€“ he would close his eyes, lean in, and gently smell the beautiful flower.
He loved everything and everyone, especially Santa Claus! How many dogs do you know that get super excited to see Santa and get their photos taken? When Santa would come around our town on the firetruck, Thrall would have us outside at the sound of the sleigh bells! The firemen started carrying dog bones for Santa to give out. We finally found a photography studio that would take these great Santa photos. Each year, we went and he was overly excited to have time alone with Santa!
One of his favorite things to do was foster kittens with me. It was amazing how gentle he could be with the babies. He knew to sit still and be calm, all the while his little nubby tail was going like crazy! If that thing went any faster, he wouldโ€™ve flown away!
One day he decided that after 7 years of sleeping in his own beds (multiple oversized orthopedic beds throughout the house) that he was going to โ€œbe a catโ€ and he started sleeping on the couch! He actually took over the entire love seat since he had to stretch his whole body out. Once he made that decision to jump up there, nothing was going to change his mind. He would even chase the cats away, so he had the whole couch to himself!
When I was diagnosed with breast cancer and had multiple surgeries, he never left my side. He was always within one or two feet of me, keeping watch. Now that Iโ€™m through my cancer journey, I bought him a pink breast cancer awareness Nylabone but never got the chance to give it to him.
Our amazing, special boy was slowing down. We had multiple vet visits to figure things out. He was diagnosed with Cushingโ€™s Disease. This was devastating but he was still his playful self, so we started him on the medication for the disease. At first there seemed to be an improvement, but two weeks later we were very concerned about the sudden changes in his appetite. When he didnโ€™t come running at the sound of the cheese drawer, we had him at the vet the following day. Unfortunately, he very unexpectedly passed while we were there. We were completely shocked. The tears started and wouldnโ€™t stop. At one month shy of his 10th birthday, he went out on his terms.
Not a day goes by that we donโ€™t miss him. We both still call him, then catch ourselves. The tears flow again. The cats even miss him. They had all been friends but never cuddled together. Now the cats are sleeping in his beds and his blanketsโ€ฆโ€ฆanything that smells like him.
The almost 9 years we had with him werenโ€™t enough. Anyone who has lost a beloved pet understands that feeling. We wish they could live forever.
We are so thankful for MidAtlantic Bulldog Rescue for helping bring this sweet boy into our lives.
