BILLIE & BANTER
Billie Holiday songs and stories

Sunday, June 28 at 4 PM

For tickets and info: bit.ly/BILLIE-HCC

A celebration of music and literature honoring Billie Holiday, a key figure of the Harlem Renaissance and one of the most iconic female jazz singers.
This will be particularly special because singer and pianist Mala Waldron is Holiday’s goddaughter. Her father, Mal Waldron, was Holiday’s last pianist. Mala will perform Holiday’s songs and play the piano, accompanied by bassist Christopher Dean Sullivan. Author Paul Alexander will read from his book, *Bitter Crop: The Heartache and Triumph of Billie Holiday’s Last Year*. His interview with Ms. Waldron will feature intriguing anecdotes and delightful gossip about Holiday and her era.
