Guardian Revival

Guardian Revival A 501(c)(3) Not-for-Profit chartered to support the mental health & well-being of military, veterans, first responders, and their families at no cost.

We define “guardians” as law enforcement officers, military service members, Emergency Medical Services (EMS), firefighters, and rescue services. Our guardians hold an honorable position within our community and are largely responsible for maintaining its safety and security. The sound functioning of a society’s guardians is a direct reflection of its overall well-being; their equipment and qualif

ications correlate with their capacity to respond to a broad spectrum of emergency scenarios, as well as implement proactive measures to maintain a secure community climate. We also target performance as a key area of improvement: optimally performing guardians, equipped with the right tools and qualifications, ultimately equates to a safe and prosperous community.

Fitness coach, author, podcast host, and Arnold’s Pump Club co-owner Jen Widerstrom has been a proud supporter of Guardian Revival since 2022.

You may recognize Jen from American Gladiators or The Biggest Loser, but we know her as a passionate advocate for guardians’ physical and mental well-being.

Whether she’s rucking, taking on challenges, or helping raise funds for our mission, Jen continues to show up for the men and women who have served.

This year, we’re especially excited that GORUCK has partnered with Guardian Revival for the One Mile Challenge—encouraging participants to ruck or move for their daily mile in support of our guardians.

“I’ve never worked with a team more invested or more determined to make a real change in the lives of our veterans. With Guardian Revival at the helm, not only do I believe in the work — I trust the people behind it. They care deeply, they show up fully, and there’s no other team I’d rather stand beside when it comes to taking care of the men and women who have taken care of us.”
— Jen Widerstrom

Thank you, Jen, for your continued belief in this mission and for standing beside our guardian community.

This Friday from 7 - 8 AM EST, Guardian Revival Co-Founder Alex Othmer will join CBS Mornings to talk about the 2026 One Mile Challenge.

Every September, people across the country take on one mile a day for 30 days to support military members, veterans, first responders, and their families.

The challenge is simple. The reason behind it isn’t.

Some battles don’t end when a shift ends, a deployment is over, or service comes to a close — they can carry on long after, often in silence.

Tune in to CBS Morning News to hear why the One Mile Challenge matters and how you can get involved.

Registration is open through September 8 here:

Sometimes rucking is about more than just what you carry on your back.

For Alex Othmer, Guardian Revival Co-Founder, rucking was part of the preparation leading up to BUD/S training and a reminder that discipline is built over the long haul — one step, one mile, one day at a time.

For many guardians, the weight they carry isn’t always visible. Rucking through the One Mile Challenge gives us a physical way to recognize that reality and honor our guardians, while moving alongside others who see the sacrifices our guardians make to keep us safe.

During the One Mile Challenge, you can make your daily mile a ruck. Choose a weight that works for you, get outside, and make the mile your own.

Ruck Week of the 2026 One Mile Challenge is powered by GORUCK and begins on Monday, September 7.

This September, ruck with purpose in support of military members, veterans, first responders, and their families.

One week from today, we will come together for the One Mile Challenge.

On September 1st, we’re asking you to step outside and put one foot in front of the other to support the mental health and well-being of our veterans and first responders.

Whether you’re going for a quick mile on your lunch break or strapping on a rucksack and hitting the trail, it doesn’t matter how you get your mile — it only matters that you do.

Because that mile, those steps, your effort can be the difference between someone finding a sense of connection and community and carrying their struggle in silence.

30 Days. 30 Miles. 1 Mission.

You don’t have to wear the uniform to support the people who do.

This September, take on the One Mile Challenge: One mile a day for 30 days in support of veterans, first responders, and their families.

Walk it. Run it. Ruck it. Do it your way. Do it with purpose.

For many who have served our communities and our country, the largest battles don’t end when the shift ends or the uniform comes off.

Your mile shows our guardians that they’re not alone. Every step you take is a statement — We see you. We stand with you. You are never alone.

One mile may feel small, but when we move together, it becomes something bigger than itself.

Sign up today and make your steps mean something: https://give.guardianrevival.org/omc2026

This September, your daily mile is more than distance. It is a lifeline.

Every step you take — whether you walk, run, or ruck — powers no-cost programs that help guardians find a sense of community, confidence, and connection.

Another Summit — Outdoor adventures including walking, hiking, backpacking, paddling, and fly fishing.

Boots & Paws — Companion dogs that offer the therapeutic benefits of animal companionship.

Dwyer Vet2Vet of Putnam County — Support that connects veterans, service members, and their families with people who understand the challenges of service and life after it.

Encore — Opportunities to learn, write, play, record, and share music, including lessons, jams, workshops, and performances.

Homefront — Mental health and wellness resources, family-focused events, and support networks for military and first responder families.

RISE — Wellness workshops and resources that help guardians recharge, rebuild, and rise.

When you join the 2026 One Mile Challenge, you are helping make these programs available at no cost to the guardians and families who need them.

30 days. 30 miles. 1 Mission.
