Michael Schropp’s paintings combine realism and surrealism to create emotionally charged worlds where memory, imagination, and lived experience intersect.
His compositions resist straightforward interpretation, favoring metaphor over illustration and inviting viewers to bring their own experiences to the work.
A veteran of deployments to Iraq and Afghanistan, Schropp draws upon personal experience without allowing it to define his practice, creating paintings that speak to resilience, vulnerability, and transformation in deeply human terms.

Figures, landscapes, and symbolic forms drift between recognizable and dreamlike space, reflecting the ways personal history continues to shape perception long after events have passed.

Kunkel & Kopchak w/ Mike LaRocco
A jazz hybrid and exploratory performance in the gallery.

Guitarist and composer Jim Kunkel and bassist and composer Mickey Kopchak write lyrically and harmonically adventurous music built as vehicles for improvisation, which spring to life in performance.

They have played together since 2015, and the depth of it is obvious live. Kunkel moves between classical and electric guitar. Kopchak runs his bass through effects that give it a vocal, emotional quality that is always tasty and never too much.

Mike LaRocco joins them on drums and percussion.
