Mentoring happens one moment, one conversation, and one connection at a time.

As a Mission Sponsor of Dancing for Big Buddy, Kiwanis Club of Baton Rouge helps support the caring, consistent relationships that are at the heart of Big Buddy's work.

Throughout Summer Enrichment, Circle Mentors were there for the big adventures and the everyday moments: learning alongside youth, encouraging them through challenges, sharing a laugh, and creating a place where every young person could feel supported and valued.

It's that consistency that turns time spent together into relationships that matter.

A great mentor doesn't just help you navigate where you are. They help you imagine where you might go.

As a Mission Sponsor of Dancing for Big Buddy, Kean Miller helps support the mentoring relationships that encourage Big Buddy youth to ask questions, explore new ideas, and discover possibilities beyond what they already know.

This summer, those opportunities took youth beyond the classroom, from exploring Louisiana history and government to experiencing new places, cultures, careers, and ideas alongside caring mentors.

Total Teen Takeover brought our Level-UP! Scholars together for a celebration of all they accomplished during six weeks of workforce development, career exploration, professional growth, and hands-on experience.

Throughout the summer, Scholars showed up, put in the work, gained new skills, earned certifications, explored career pathways, and grew as young professionals. Total Teen Takeover gave us a chance to celebrate THEM and everything they achieved along the way! 💙👏

We are incredibly proud of our Level-UP! Scholars and grateful to the partners, sponsors, worksite supervisors, mentors, and supporters who helped make this summer possible.

As we reflect on a summer filled with learning and discovery, we’re especially grateful to the Louisiana Art & Science Museum! 🧪🎨

LASM applied for and received grant funding that covered the cost of attendance for Big Buddy youth, giving them the opportunity to explore the museum and experience learning beyond the classroom. Experiences like these spark curiosity, expand young people’s worlds, and make summer learning memorable.

Our students are back in school, and our staff worked hard all summer long to make six weeks of learning, exploration, and fun possible! Before we gear up for the fall, many of our full-time staff members are taking some much-needed downtime during Wellness Week. 💙

As we rest and reflect, we’re looking back at the grand finale of our Summer Enrichment journey “Around the World!” 🌍✨

During the Travel Expo, our middle schoolers shared facts, foods, and cultural features from the countries we “visited.” Then, at our End-of-Summer Showcase, all of our summer youth brought their learning to life through dancing, music, culinary delights, crafts, and more!

Our partners at Youth City Lab (YCL) are looking for a Building Operations Manager to help lead the day-to-day operations of their dynamic, youth-centered community space.

This full-time position is a great opportunity for a proactive, service-minded leader who enjoys working with people, solving problems, building strong relationships, and creating safe, welcoming spaces where young people can learn and thrive. The role includes facility operations, partner coordination, safety and emergency preparedness, scheduling, vendor management, and helping ensure Youth City Lab remains organized, welcoming, and mission-focused.

💼 Building Operations Manager
⏰ Full-time | 40 hours/week
💰 Salary: $50,000–$55,000, based on qualifications and experience
🎓 Degree preferred, but not required
📋 Minimum 2–3 years of relevant operations, facilities, office operations, or comparable experience required

Our community partner Chase Bank is hosting a Small Business Next Level Workshop designed to support and empower entrepreneurs through networking, mentorship, and small business financial education.

Participants will have opportunities to connect with Chase small business professionals and community leaders, along with nonprofit lending partner TruFund Financial.
