We are so grateful for the students from Catholic High School who spent part of their week serving with our Uniforms for Kids program at the new Holmes Thrift Store & Outreach Center.

From stocking and organizing uniforms to packing orders, cleaning workspaces, unloading donations, and helping prepare for distribution, they showed up ready to serve wherever needed. It’s always encouraging to see young people put their faith into action in such a genuine and joyful way.

Because of their hard work, more children in our community will head into the school year feeling confident, prepared, and cared for. Thank you!

🍽️ Become a Neighbor at the Table! ❤️

St. Vincent de Paul of Baton Rouge is excited to introduce our new volunteer opportunity: Neighbors at the Table—formerly known as Mana Givers.

This meaningful volunteer experience invites individuals, families, businesses, churches, and community groups to purchase and prepare meals for guests staying in our shelters. A warm meal does more than nourish the body—it reminds our neighbors that they are seen, valued, and supported by a caring community.

Our first volunteer date is June 1, and spots are already available. Sign up today and help make a difference one meal at a time!

For many families, summer break doesn’t just mean kids are home from school; it also means figuring out how to provide extra meals every single day. When budgets are already stretched thin, that can bring a lot of stress and worry.

Caring for our neighbors means showing up for one another in practical, loving ways. That’s why we’re grateful for programs like the EBRP Child Nutrition Program, which is providing FREE meals for children and teens 18 and under all summer long at locations across our community.

Please help us spread the word so more families can find support, nourishment, and hope this summer.

What a fantastic start to Summer Cookout Fridays at St. Vincent de Paul of Baton Rouge!

Last week, our Dining Room was transformed into a welcoming neighborhood cookout, complete with festive tablecloths, summer décor, and a warm atmosphere that made everyone feel right at home. More than just a meal, it was an opportunity to build community, share conversations, and bring a little extra joy to those we serve.

Thank you to everyone who helped make our first Summer Cookout Friday such a success. We can't wait to continue the tradition all summer long!

Volunteer Highlight

This week, we proudly recognize Mrs. Linda and Mr. McClesh Dawkins for their dedication to serving our neighbors in need at St. Vincent de Paul of Baton Rouge.

For over two decades, this devoted team has volunteered in our Pharmacy, Dining Room, Fill a Prescription program, and Rosie’s Army. Since 2024, they've given nearly 1,100 hours loading groceries, picking up supplies, and ensuring resources reach those in need.

Their commitment began after answering a volunteer call in the Sunday paper. Ever since, they've shown up weekly with compassion and a servant's heart.

We are so grateful to Linda and McClesh, and to the impact they continue to make in our community every single day.

Join Linda and McClesh in making a real difference with Rosie’s Army! Contact Volunteer Coordinator Diana Barnes at (225) 383-7837 ext. 207 or [email protected] to start volunteering today.
