Feeding Louisiana recently visited Second Harvest Food Bank - Feeding South Louisiana of Greater New Orleans and Acadiana, one of the five major food banks in Louisiana.

Second Harvest plays a vital role in strengthening food access across South Louisiana - working every day to meet families where they are and respond to the growing need for hunger relief with compassion and consistency.

During our visit, we were reminded of the dedication, care, and coordination that happens behind the scenes to ensure thousands of Louisiana families can put food on the table. We’re grateful for their relentless work and proud to stand alongside them in the fight against hunger across our state.

Feeding Louisiana is proud to announce the Inaugural Class of Hunger Action Ambassadors! 🤝

This statewide network of leaders is turning concern into action. Across higher education, healthcare, faith communities, agriculture, and nonprofit service, these Ambassadors are united by one goal: building a more food-secure Louisiana. Over the coming months, they will engage in training on policy and advocacy to strengthen their voices and expand practical solutions to hunger across the state.

Meet Sarah Jean Giles, Children & Senior Programs Manager at Second Harvest Food Bank - Feeding South Louisiana!

Sarah supports programs across 12 parishes in Acadiana and Southwest Louisiana, including summer feeding, school-based initiatives, and senior nutrition services. She works closely with community partners to help ensure programs are responsive, effective, and rooted in local needs.

With over 20 years of experience in nonprofit leadership, education, healthcare, and international service, Sarah brings a deep commitment to strengthening food access for families across the region.
