On July 19, join us for our annual Business Meeting from 5:00pm - 7:00pm at the Louisiana State Archives.

Come out and toast to Louisiana and view historical artifacts from the Louisiana State Archives collections.

In observance of the Independence Day holiday, the Louisiana State Archives will be closed for the First Saturday of the month on July 1 and remain closed through July 4.

The Archives will resume normal business hours on Wednesday, July 5.

On June 21 at 1:15pm, we are hosting a special Lunch and Learn presentation featuring biographer John McCusker.

Through his recordings, videos, and ephemera, McCusker reveals Edward "Kid" Ory to be an essential generational link between the first jazz band leader Buddy Bolden and New Orleans' ultimate jazzman Louis Armstrong.

Join the Friends of the Louisiana State Archives for a lively book talk featuring authors Beth Yarbrough and Dr. Ashley Oliphant today, April 5. Dr. Oliphant and Ms. Yarbrough are returning to the Archives to discuss the next chapter in their research about the famed pirate Jean Lafitte and his descendants. The Friends will host a reception at 5:30 pm with an informative presentation at 6:00 pm.
