Today, we hosted 4-H University Contest Training and Louisiana 4-H State Leadership Board Interviews at the EVAC Center! 💚🍀

We are proud of all the 4-H members who spent the day preparing for contests, sharpening their leadership skills, and stepping outside their comfort zones. The future of Louisiana 4-H is bright, and we can’t wait to see these young leaders continue to grow and thrive!

Thank you to everyone who helped make today a success and to the volunteers, agents, and families who continue to support our youth.

When Cohen A. reached out to local high school agriculture departments, he wasn’t just asking for donations, he was planting the seeds of community transformation. By securing 10-foot planter boxes and picnic tables, he turned a vacant lot in the heart of Acadia Parish into a space full of potential.

Working with younger students in his community with this hands-on experience, they explored the importance of community gardens, imagined the future of this green space, and discovered how it would nourish and unite Branch. Cohen also reported gaining communication and adaptability skills when parts of the project did not go exactly as planned. We hope his initiative can inspire his peers and younger students to work towards better both themselves and the communities around them!

Luke M. brought STEM to life by organizing and leading “Fun with Robotics” for Acadia Parish youth!

This hands-on Louisiana 4-H robotics camp introduced 20 participants to building and programming LEGO robots while encouraging creativity, teamwork, and problem-solving skills. Many youth were amazed by how quickly they learned coding and robotics in a fun, supportive environment. Through this project, Luke also strengthened his leadership, communication, adaptability, and event-planning skills while inspiring younger members to explore the exciting world of STEM!

Woodruff Cavin’s "Adopt a Senior" project in Concordia Parish proves that some of the most meaningful connections happen when we take the time to listen. This heartwarming project connected 18 youth participants with nursing home residents through visits, conversations, and acts of kindness, reducing loneliness and reminding us all that every life has a legacy worth celebrating. This experience strengthened community bonds and brought different ages closer together.

Through this project, Woody also grew in empathy, open-mindedness, and communication skills while learning the lasting value of relationships, gratitude, and understanding across generations.

In a world that moves fast, this project is a gentle nudge to pause, connect, and cherish the relationships that shape us.

What a great day at our 4-H Service-Learning Training!
We had an amazing mix of youth and adult teams fully engaged, sharing ideas, and building plans to make a difference in their communities. These teams aren’t just learning they’re stepping up, ready to serve, lead, and create meaningful change. And that’s what 4-H is all about! Special thanks to our awesome presenters: Kim Deville, Jacque Fontenot, Amanda Simmons, Esther Boe, Bethany Corona, and Lisa Benoit.
