CONGRATULATIONS TO THE 2024 LOUISIANA 4-H SHOOTING SPORTS TEAM WHO EARNED THE NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP FOR LOUISIANA. This makes four of the past five years of the event being held that Louisiana has brought home the title. Congratulations!

THIS is how far 4-H Shooting Sports can take you. I met Leighton when she was a young girl, competing in .22 rifle and air rifle, for another parish. Leighton had an incredible passion and drive for these sports and earned a spot on the Louisiana 4-H National Air-Rifle Team one year and and then on the National .22 Team. Both years that she went to National’s, those teams placed 1st overall, and I was blessed to have been there the year she went in .22. She also competed at the Jr. Olympics. I thought she was a rockstar back then, but today, this young lady is the HEAD Coach for the Army’s West Point Rifle Team and she has now been named the “Coach of the Year” by the Great American Rifle Conference. Don’t ever think that 4-H shooting sports can’t make an impact on a child’s life. Shooting sports can be their entire future! The Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries is responsible for managing and protecting Louisiana’s abundant natural resources. The department issues hunting, fishing, and trapping licenses, as well as boat titles and registrations.

Extraordinary!! 4-H proud!!

A HUGE congratulations to our own Colorado 4-H’er Will (William) Shaner for capturing the Gold and setting a new record in the men’s 10m air rifle competition! Will was a 6-year Colorado 4-H member from 2009 to 2014 in Garfield County where he won many competitions at the county and state level throughout his 4-H career. Congratulations Will on behalf of CSU, CSU Extension and Colorado 4-H!

2021 NATIONAL CHAMPIONS!

Some fantastic news from Nebraska this morning as the Louisiana 4-H Shooting Sports Team has earned the title of NATIONAL CHAMPIONS for the second time in a row. We are very proud of our members, coaches, volunteers, and agents who worked so hard to make the 2021 National Championship a reality! Congratulations! Louisiana 4-H Shooting Sports

Awesome! Go Allie!

Meet Allie, who represents Louisiana and joined the National 4-H Shooting Sports Ambassador team in 2019. She said being a member of 4-H Shooting Sports changed her life by allowing her to stay active and participate despite a brachial plexus injury.

The program has shown her that no matter how hard life gets, if you continue to push through, you will become whatever you want to be.

She said, “I believe that any young person should have the opportunity to learn the life skills like I did through 4-H.”
