The next deadline to apply to the Teach For America corps is Monday, Oct. 26.

The TFA corps is a full-time, paid, two-year leadership role teaching in under-resourced K–12 schools. Corps members receive the same salary and benefits as other first-year teachers, along with coaching, mentorship, and support designed to help them grow in the classroom and beyond.

We’re looking for people from all majors, backgrounds, and career paths who believe in the potential of all kids, set ambitious goals, take initiative, value working across lines of difference, and want to serve alongside communities.

🌎🌱 Exciting News for Rougon Elementary’s Earth Club! 🌱🌎

We are excited to share that our Rougon Earth Club School Garden Project has received a $500 grant through Kiwanis International! Our 5th & 6th grade Science/Social Studies teacher, Ms. Amber Pickney, accepted this grant to help our Earth Club students bring one of their first major projects to life by creating a school garden featuring four raised garden beds. Students will have hands-on opportunities to help build, plant, maintain, and eventually harvest from the garden throughout the school year.
As a first-year club, Earth Club is focused on helping students connect with the natural world, work together, develop environmental stewardship, and find meaningful ways to give back to their school and community. The garden will give students the chance to see firsthand how their ideas, teamwork, and effort can come together to create something lasting.
A huge thank you to Kiwanis for investing in our students and helping make this project possible!

Last Saturday, we kicked off the first official session of the Spark Fellowship!

Fellows learned from Teach For America corps members in Houston who have built apps in PlayLab to address needs in their classrooms. Hearing how other educators turned classroom challenges into practical tools helped our fellows imagine what they might create for their own students.

Throughout the session, fellows collectively brainstormed opportunities for improvement in their classrooms, deepened their understanding of themselves as systems leaders, and began building solutions. It was exciting to see ideas take shape through collaboration, reflection, and action.

Next month, fellows will learn from alumni who identified needs in their communities and worked to address them by creating products, coalitions, or organizations. We’re looking forward to another inspiring session and to seeing how our fellows continue developing their ideas.

Teach For America began 35 years ago with a bold question: Why weren’t young leaders being recruited as aggressively to teach in urban and rural schools as they were to work on Wall Street?

In a new article, TFA CEO Aneesh Sohoni reflects on the enduring power of the answer. Today, the Teach For America network includes more than 77,000 teachers, tutors, and alumni. Seventy-five percent of alumni work full time in education or mission-related fields- teaching, leading schools and systems, shaping policy, building organizations, and expanding opportunity for students and communities.

Today, young adults are entering a rapidly changing world of work while looking for purpose, community, and the chance to make a difference. The TFA corps offers all three, along with the responsibility and development that come from leading a classroom.

Corps members learn to set goals, analyze information, solve problems in real time, build trust, and lead across differences. As AI transforms the workplace, these distinctly human capabilities will only become more valuable.

Thirty-five years later, TFA has connected generations around a shared commitment to students and educational opportunity. Now is the time to invite the next generation to join them.

On Tuesday evening, we kicked off the Spark Fellowship with a wonderful dinner hosted by Anita Byrne and Lauren Whatley. We are incredibly grateful for their hospitality and the opportunity to learn alongside two leaders who are deeply invested in our community.

A key component of the Spark Fellowship is exploring how leadership often begins with recognizing a problem or opportunity and then taking action. During dinner, fellows shared the opportunities they see within their classrooms and schools, as well as the changes they hope to make for their students and communities.

The conversation was filled with thoughtful ideas, meaningful collaboration, and valuable feedback from our hosts. It was inspiring to watch fellows build on one another's thinking and begin forming the connections that will support them throughout the year.

We're excited to officially begin our first session this Saturday and can't wait to see what our Spark Fellows build and the connection they make this year!
