Tonight at 6:00 p.m., learn more about the Mississippi River Restoration & Resilience Initiative (MRRRI) and how you can get involved. The idea is to establish a program for the 10 main stem Mississippi River states which would result in a basin wide action plan to improve outcomes related to water quality, wildlife habitat, flood resilience, invasive species, and equity and justice.

Join fellow Mississippi River enthusiasts nationwide as we celebrate a new vision for the River and launch a public petition for action!

Wishcycling does more harm than good! When was the last time you checked what your local municipality accepts for recycling (and how to properly dispose of your recyclables)? If you're in Baton Rouge, visit https://www.brla.gov/890/Recycling-Office to make sure that you're not being a Wishcycler!

Are you an wishcycler? Most of us are without even knowing. ♻️

In fact, 25 percent of materials added to recycling bins don't belong there. Tossing questionable items in the recycle bin can contaminate other recyclables and can even clog and break recycling equipment, resulting in a slowdown of operations.

Here are a couple of ways you can be more mindful about what you toss in the recycle bin:
✅ Only recycle what you know is accepted. Check with your city for local guidelines and accepted materials.
✅ Wash and clean recyclables before you add them to the bin.
✅ Don't bag your recyclables – plastic bags can break the sorting machines.

The pandemic has driven a huge increase in participation in citizen science, where people without specialized training collect data out in the world or perform simple analyses of data online to help out scientists.

From backyard astronomy to birding, amateurs have been busy collecting data — and making real discoveries.
