Today’s Rotary Speaker 💙💛

The Rotary Club of Barnesville was pleased to welcome Pastor Cole Smith of Christ Chapel Barnesville as our guest speaker today.

Pastor Cole shared a message centered around “Growing, Glowing, and Going”, encouraging us to continue growing personally and as a community, to be a positive light to those around us, and to put that growth into action through service and involvement.

Rotary was delighted to celebrate our August birthday honorees at the Senior Citizens Center!

We always enjoy spending time with our senior community and helping make these monthly celebrations a little extra special with fellowship, smiles, and birthday cheer.

🏈 Rotary Speaker Highlight

This week, the Rotary Club of Barnesville welcomed Lamar County High School Head Football Coach Travis Ellington as our guest speaker.

Coach Ellington gave members a look ahead at the Lamar County Trojans’ upcoming football season, including several anticipated matchups with local rivals.

He also spoke about the importance of student-athlete safety, the protocols his staff follows to protect players, and the emphasis the coaching staff places on developing character alongside athletic ability.

For Coach Ellington and his staff, success is about more than what happens on Friday nights. It is also about helping young athletes grow into disciplined, responsible young men who represent their school and community well.

Thank you, Coach Ellington, for joining us and for your commitment to the student-athletes of Lamar County High School.

🌊 Rotary Speaker Highlight

Rotary recently welcomed Gordon Rogers, Executive Director of the Flint Riverkeeper, who gave the club an informative look at the work being done to protect and improve the health of the Flint River.

Gordon explained what a Riverkeeper does, the challenges facing the river, and the organization’s ongoing efforts to preserve this important natural resource for the communities that depend on it.

The Flint River serves as a major water source for many across Georgia, making stewardship, conservation, and water quality an issue that affects all of us.

Thank you, Gordon, for educating our club and for the work you and the Flint Riverkeeper team continue to do on behalf of our state’s waterways. 💧

Tuesday’s Rotary Speaker

This past Tuesday, the Rotary Club of Barnesville was pleased to welcome Karmen Scott from the Lamar County Health Department as our featured speaker.

Karmen shared an informative presentation about the WIC (Women, Infants, and Children) Program and the vital role prenatal nutrition plays in healthy birth outcomes. She explained how proper nutrition during pregnancy can positively impact both mother and baby while highlighting the resources and support available through WIC for eligible families in our community.

Thank you, Karmen, for the meaningful work you do and for taking the time to educate our members on a program that helps build healthier families and a stronger community.

Today’s Rotary Speaker

Today, the Rotary Club of Barnesville welcomed Sherry Farr from the Lamar County Health Department as our featured speaker.

Sherry shared valuable information on the importance of immunizations and the vital role they play in protecting individuals, families, and our community from preventable diseases. Her presentation highlighted how vaccinations help safeguard public health at every stage of life and why staying up to date on recommended immunizations is so important.

🌍 Rotary Speaker Highlight

Yesterday, we had the pleasure of hearing from Anders Ramming of Denmark.

Anders previously attended Gordon State College through the Georgia Rotary Student Program and returned to Barnesville to update the club on his studies, career, and life since his time here.

He now serves in the Danish military and is studying a foreign language with the goal of helping foster greater understanding and peace throughout the world.

It was wonderful to welcome Anders back and hear how his Rotary experience continues to shape his journey.

🔔 Rotary Club of Barnesville Celebrates Leadership, Service & Excellence 🔔

What a wonderful evening as the Rotary Club of Barnesville gathered for our New Officer Installation, Passing of the Gavel, and Hall of Honor Ceremony. It was a night dedicated to recognizing outstanding service, celebrating leadership, and looking ahead to another year of “Service Above Self.”

⚡ Rotary Speaker Highlight

Today, we had the opportunity to hear from Derek Petty and Clint Boyt of Southern Rivers Energy.

Their presentation gave members an informative look into electrical safety, the history and impact of Southern Rivers Energy, and the important work that goes into powering and serving our communities each day.

One of the highlights was the hands-on demonstration showcasing electrical safety and utility operations, which made for an engaging and educational presentation for everyone in attendance.

We appreciate Derek and Clint taking the time to share their knowledge and expertise with the club.
