Rotary Club of Barnesville This is the official page for the Barnesville Rotary Club. We meet Tuesdays at noon at the Women's Clubhouse.

The Barnesville Rotary Club meets every Tuesday at the Barnesville Women’s Clubhouse, 176 Stafford Avenue. As part of his visit, Dr. Don Green, President of Gordon State College, surprised several attendees with Gordon State College T-shirts. Congratulations to everyone who went home with some new Highlander gear!

🎓 Rotary Speaker Highlight

Today, we had the privilege of hearing from Dr. Don Green, President of Gordon State College, who shared updates on the many exciting things happening at the college and reflected on his time in Barnesville as he prepares to begin a new chapter.

During his tenure, Dr. Green worked to strengthen Gordon State College’s connection to the community, support student success, and foster partnerships that have benefited Barnesville and Lamar County. Though his time here was relatively brief, his leadership and commitment to both the college and the community have left a meaningful impact.

As a fellow Rotarian, Dr. Green has been a valued member of our club, and we are grateful for the support, insight, and leadership he has shared with us over the past several years.

We also had the pleasure of inducting two new Rotary members:

🔹 Summer Fletcher, Industrial Development Authority

⚡ Rotary Speaker Highlight

Today, we had the opportunity to hear from Derek Petty and Clint Boyt of Southern Rivers Energy.

Their presentation gave members an informative look into electrical safety, the history and impact of Southern Rivers Energy, and the important work that goes into powering and serving our communities each day.

One of the highlights was the hands-on demonstration showcasing electrical safety and utility operations, which made for an engaging and educational presentation for everyone in attendance.

We appreciate Derek and Clint taking the time to share their knowledge and expertise with the club.

✨ Rotary Highlight

At Rotary this week, we recognized the students who participated and placed in the Georgia Laws of Life Essay Program, a program of Rotary International.

We would especially like to congratulate Jordan Anderson, the overall school winner, who had the opportunity to share his essay with the club. His essay was thoughtful, inspiring, and a wonderful reflection of the values and character this program promotes.

We are proud of all the students who participated and thankful for the continued support of programs that encourage integrity, leadership, and personal growth in our youth.

Today’s presenters were Luke and Allie Andrews, who shared about Rainbow Farm and their involvement with Georgia Farm Bureau.

They gave great insight into local agriculture, the impact of farming on our community, and how organizations like Farm Bureau support and advocate for farmers across Georgia.

It was an informative and inspiring look at the dedication it takes to sustain and grow local agriculture.

Today’s Rotary presenter was Jonathan Swatts, who shared an engaging look at parks and nature trails located just 1–2 hours from Barnesville.

From scenic hikes to peaceful outdoor escapes, his presentation highlighted the many opportunities our region has to offer for recreation, wellness, and exploration right in our own backyard.

It was a great reminder that you don’t have to travel far to experience something new.

Today’s Rotary presenter was Arthur “Brutz” English, who gave a fascinating talk on the world of honey bees and the important role they play in our ecosystem.

He also shared more about his business, Liberty Hill Honey, and the passion behind producing high-quality, local honey right here in our community.

From pollination to production, it was a sweet reminder of how vital small businesses and agriculture are to our local economy.
