YWCA MDI YWCA MDI is on a mission to eliminate racism; empower women; stand up for social justice; help families, and strengthen communities.

In addition, women of all ages are welcome to participate in programs that encourage growth and development, promote self confidence and pride, provide educational opportunities, and assist women to attain economic and political influence and leadership in our community. YWCA MDI is deeply involved in social justice, partnering with several other organizations to provide training opportunities and

programs designed to raise awareness and educate community members about the need for racial equity.

Women have always powered the labor movement!

From the Lowell Mill Girls' strikes in the 1830s, to Mother Jones and the ILGWU, to Dolores Huerta co-founding the United Farm Workers — women have driven the fight for fair wages, safe conditions and dignity at work. That legacy continues today through leaders like Ai-jen Poo and the ongoing push for equal pay and safe workplaces for all.

Honoring Gloria Steinem — journalist, activist and one of the driving forces of modern feminism. For over 60 years, she's fought for equality, reproductive rights and the simple radical idea that women deserve the same freedoms as everyone else.

She's given us an incredible example to follow. Now it's on us to carry the torch — to keep pushing for the world she's spent a lifetime fighting for.

The 19th Amendment was a milestone, but it didn't reach all women equally. The fight for true equality has always been intersectional and it isn't over. YWCA USA continues to push for the ERA's ratification and publication, because constitutional s*x equality is essential to ending gender-based discrimination.

We keep showing up — for the ERA, for each other, for equality without exception. We honor those who paved the way and stand with everyone continuing that work today.

The Benni Mutual Aid Program provides emergency assistance to women facing urgent financial hardship — rent, utilities, medical bills and other essentials. Often, it's one unexpected expense that can push a woman into crisis and a small amount of timely help that can prevent it.
