Hamilton Station Project

Hamilton Station Project As part of our mission to empower women and support families and communities, YWCA is building attainable housing on Mount Desert Island.

The YWCA MDI’s vision for the Hamilton Station property is to create a vibrant, healthy, and attainable year-round residential community for families and individuals who want to live on Mount Desert Island. This will be achieved by constructing missing middle concept rental housing.

MDI faces a housing crisis -- and you can help us tackle it.

Did you know that fewer than 60% of Bar Harbor's housing units are occupied by year-round households? You can help us tackle this problem, and double your impact! A generous anonymous philanthropist will match donations of $1000 or less. Check out our website, and be sure to click Hamilton Station on the drop-down menu if you donate. Thank you! https://www.ywcamdi.org/hamilton-station

If you've wanted to help make Hamilton Station happen, today's a great day to give! An anonymous donor has offered to match contributions of $1000 or less so we can move forward with pre-construction work and we appreciate every single donor. Thanks to this amazing donor and to everyone who's helping us build attainable housing on MDI!

At YWCA MDI, we rely on small donors and we’re so grateful for every gift we receive. As we move forward with our Hamilton Station project, we need to raise $250,000 for pre-construction costs. And just in time for , a generous donor has offered up to $12,500 in matching funds for gifts under $1000, so small donations make an even bigger impact.

Every gift helps make Hamilton Station a reality. If you’d like to be part of this important project, click the link in our bio to give with a credit card, Venmo, or PayPal. Please include the note “Hamilton Station” so we know how to direct your gift. Or you can mail a check to us at 36 Mount Desert Street in Bar Harbor, 04609. Thank you, and thanks to our very generous donor for giving the gift of community.

Attention Housing Heroes! The YWCA MDI board and steering committee are looking for SEVEN more individuals or businesses to join our group of TEN $25,000 donors to assist our pre construction funding as we go through the permitting and grant writing process for the construction of our first 18 units of affordable housing at the newly named, Red Barn Way at Hamilton Station.

If you believe that affordable housing is a significant community challenge in Bar Harbor and are able to commit $25,000 to be one of the true believers in providing a solution then we invite you to join this esteemed group who will be permanently memorialized at the site as the kick starters, the visionaries, the problem solvers who are vital to fast tracking our project out of permit stage and onto construction stage.

Our Executive Director, Jackie Davidson, is available to answer any questions or discuss your donation as are the other members of the Steering Committee, Chair Allie Bodge, Abby Robinson, Joan Loy-Baxter, Kim Swan and YWCA MDI Board President Ann Worrick.

We thank you in advance for your enthusiasm and dedication to our community and one of our greatest needs.
