Save Our Summits hikes take place every Wednesday and Friday from June 24 through September 2026. Tenacious volunteer hikers carry bags of soil to the summit of either Penobscot or Sargent Mountain to help with ongoing restoration efforts in Acadia National Park.

There's still time to register for this Saturday's invasive plant ID and removal workshop at The Neighborhood House!

Support local biodiversity by learning how to identify and remove invasive plants on Mount Desert Island!

Join Friends of Acadia and Acadia National Park Vegetation Manager Jesse Wheeler to learn techniques and tools for identifying invasive plants in your own backyard. Identifying and removing these plants is a great way to help scientists and resource managers in Acadia slow the spread.

The first workshop will be on Saturday, June 6 from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at The Neighborhood House in Northeast Harbor. Registration is required: https://friendsofacadia.org/our-impact/wild-acadia/backyard-stewards/backyard-stewards-workshop-series/
