Fund IRL Maryland is recruiting up to 8 young Marylanders, ages 14–18, to become Youth Ambassadors and bring real youth voices into conversations with communities and policymakers.

From teaching future veterinarians to taking the next step toward becoming one herself 🐾🩺✨

Kaila Tyree-Castro is a graduate of UMES in Animal Studies and the amazing teacher behind our STEMcx Veterinary Camp.

Kaila currently works as a Veterinary Assistant at Banfield Pet Hospital and recently submitted her veterinary school application! 🎓🐶

And she’s still keeping busy with some very familiar faces — the chickens our students hatched during Veterinary Camp this summer. 🐣💛

We love seeing our students learn from mentors who are actively building the futures they once dreamed about.

STEMcx Saturday Academy is officially back for the fall semester — and this time, our students are taking STEM around the world. 🌍✈️

Our first stop: Japan 🇯🇵

During our first session, students explored Japan’s culture, geography, and the science behind earthquakes. They learned how engineers design structures to better withstand seismic activity, then put those ideas into practice by building earthquake tables, testing structures, making adjustments, and strengthening their designs. 🏗️

The session was led by Ms. Jasmine Young in partnership with Baltimore Underground Science Space, giving students the opportunity to experience engineering through hands-on problem-solving.

Throughout the semester, students will continue exploring STEM through countries including India, Denmark, Pakistan, Egypt, and Kenya discovering how science, technology, engineering, and math are used to solve real-world challenges across the globe.

The world is their classroom. 🌎🔬
