Pets on Wheels Pets love unconditionally. Their warmth makes a difference to those they visit. Pets on Wheels is a program that makes a difference.

Non-profit volunteer organization, providing therapy animal visits to nursing homes, hospitals, shelters, schools and more throughout Maryland www.petsonwheels.org. Our therapy pet teams visit nursing homes, assisted living facilities, schools, shelters, libraries and more, bringing the joy of interacting with a companion animal wherever its needed. Facility residents will often wait expectantly for the team to arrive and frequently will remember the pet’s name and more pleasant times. Visits by a pet team relieve the boredom many residents face each day, particularly those unable to leave their beds or rooms to participate in other activities. Depressed or uncommunicative residents have become enthusiastic and talkative in the presence of an animal. Pets on Wheels visits touch so many lives, as the pet and the volunteer see beyond the outward appearance to the heart of the person. After you fill that out, login here: http://portal.petsonwheels.org/

Once logged in, enter your pet's info: on the Volunteer Menu, go to My Pets then New Pet

The vet needs to do a f***l test and and then fills out the health certificate -http://www.petsonwheels.org/wp-content/uploads/health_certificate/Pet-Health-Certificate.pdf - and you send that back as indicated

We will enter the health certificate info for your pet and do a background check. Once that is done, you will receive an automated email inviting you to a screening. Read the volunteer policy (http://www.petsonwheels.org/wp-content/uploads/2016/10/POW-Orientation-Packet-Oct-2016-update.pdf ) and bring the signed last page to your screening. There is a $60 screening fee, payable by cash or check (credit card processing available via PayPal - extra fee applies), that you will need to bring to the screening. Screenings are currently held each month around the state. Registration is all done online. If you have questions, you find your specific local coordinator here: http://www.petsonwheels.org/contact/

🐾 Celebrating a Very Special Volunteer! 🐾

We are thrilled to share that longtime Pets on Wheels volunteer Carianne Edmondson has been featured in the inaugural newsletter of the Baltimore County Volunteer Center! Carianne has dedicated more than 15 years to bringing comfort, connection, and joy to others through her therapy cats, completing more than 1,000 visits along the way. Her current therapy partner, Binni, continues that wonderful tradition of service.

From helping children build reading confidence through library programs to visiting residents at rehabilitation and nursing centers, Carianne exemplifies the compassion and commitment that make our volunteers so special.

Please join us in congratulating Carianne on this well-deserved recognition and thanking her for the countless lives she has touched through Pets on Wheels! ❤️🐱

Our Dog Swim Pawty was a hit again this year! Thank you to Whitehall Pool and Tennis Club for allowing us to use your beautiful space for the event. Thanks to our volunteers that helped make this event happen - Kim, Cathy, Lynn, Karen, Julia, and Hannah! And thank you to everyone who came out to enjoy the day, support our organization and donated to the cause. We already can't wait for next year!

We're so grateful for our collaboration with Medstar Health and Jackson Holliday of the Baltimore Oriole's. ⚾ Some of our pet therapy teams attended the Bark at the Park 🐾 night last night where our teams were recognized for the work we do in the community. Reese, Nacho, Emma, and Jenny did a great job representing our therapy teams! Thanks to Medstar and the Oriole's for having our teams!

Therapy pets Penny and Bear, along with their owners Beth and Tony Oleszczuk, were all smiles at Bel Air Elementary School as they greeted students on their first day of school. Nothing beats starting the year with wagging tails, gentle snuggles, and a little extra courage from our therapy dogs! 🐾

"Pawsitive Leadership Boost" Experience Camps Maryland

Volunteers Carol L., Debbie L., and Joyce E. brought their therapy pets Rudy, Jenny and Martina to spend time with a remarkable group of high school girls — young women stepping up to lead a camp dedicated to supporting grieving children. In the midst of their training, our furry companions offered something quietly powerful: a moment of calm, connection, and encouragement. It's a beautiful reminder that the healing our pets bring touches not only those in need, but also the compassionate hearts preparing to serve them.
