Baltimore Center Stage The State Theater of Maryland
(1072)

Baltimore Center Stage is a professional, nonprofit institution committed to entertaining, engaging, and enriching audiences through bold, innovative, and thought-provoking classical and contemporary theater. Named the State Theater of Maryland in 1978, Baltimore Center Stage has steadily grown as a leader in the national regional theater scene. Under the leadership of Artistic Director Stephanie

Ybarra, Baltimore Center Stage is committed to creating and presenting a diverse array of world premieres and exhilarating interpretations of established works. Baltimore Center Stage believes in access for all—creating a welcoming environment for everyone who enters its theater doors and, at the same time, striving to meet audiences where they are. In addition to our Mainstage, Off Center, and Family Series productions in the historic Mount Vernon neighborhood, Baltimore Center Stage ignites conversations among a global audience through our digital initiatives, which explore how technology and the arts intersect. The theater also nurtures the next generation of artists and theatergoers through the Young Playwrights Festival, Student Matinee Series, and many other educational programs for students, families, and professionals.

A BIG FUTURE FOR BALTIMORE CENTER STAGE: Stevie Walker-Webb and Ken-Matt Martin have both signed three-year extensions, as we welcome our new Board President Chrissy M. Thornton!

This new exciting leadership trio will lead us into a new era while continuing the bold artistic vision and community-centered leadership that have made BCS such an exciting force in Baltimore.

And the numbers are speaking, too: single-ticket revenue has more than doubled since Stevie’s arrival. But beyond the numbers, artists are choosing Baltimore. Audiences are showing up. And BCS is becoming a place where some of the most exciting voices in the country want to create.

The future is bright and we cannot wait to share it with you.

After bringing Emmy-winning talent such as Matthew Weiner and Lena Waithe to Charm City, Artistic Director Stevie Walker-Webb wants to build his legacy with Baltimore Center Stage.

⚠️ Warning: BOCKING contains explicit content and is very risqué. It’s also laugh-out-loud funny, deeply real, and full of heart.
