Mission
The Ignatian Volunteer Corps (IVC) provides mature men and women the opportunity to serve the needs of people who are poor, to work for a more just society, and to grow deeper in Christian faith by reflecting and praying in the Ignatian tradition. IVC Values
Service done with and for the materially poor. Reflection on the work/service experience with the poor. The life experience, wisdom,

and skills of senior men and women. The leadership role of the laity to transform the world through justice, rooted in gospel values. The dignity and equality of all women and men regardless of race, age, education, economic deprivation, or social status. The search for the presence of God to be found in all things and the call to holiness extended to all women and men throughout life. Jesuit support, including opportunities for spiritual development in the Ignatian tradition.

We had another great visit to Mother Seton Academy. Interim CEO of IVC Brian Burke, Senior Area Director, Mid-Atlantic Mike Goggin, President of Mother Seton Academy George Andrews, and Director of Development of Mother Seton Academy Alexandra Stahl welcomed us at the request of Brian. We have four amazing Service Corps Members serving at Mother Seton Academy. Jan Allen, Jana Burch (wasn't in today), Joseph Olah, and Robert (Bob) McDonald. We all enjoyed great conversations about the impact that Service Corps Members have in helping students achieve their academic goals and in providing assistance to teachers and administrators as needed.

Mother Seton Academy was blessed to have four Ignatian Volunteer Corps members serve our students this year. Special thanks to Jan, Jana, Bob in photo with Joseph who were so committed to our students growth this year. We were recently visited by Brian Burke Interim, CEO and Mike Goggin the senior Mid-Atlantic Director of IVC who thanked us for our partnership. We appreciate the work of Raven Wilkins the regional director who is a wonderful promoter of both MSA and IVV. We look forward to working with IVC next academic year. We're so grateful to Baltimore magazine for doing a story about AWE and our work in their June 2026 issue.

They conducted multiple interviews with staff, our partners The Intercultural Counseling Connection and HEAL Refugee Health and Asylum Collaborative, and one of our clients to learn about the issues facing asylum seekers and other forced migrants, what we are seeing in Baltimore, and the ways we are working to continue supporting clients during this time.

Last week, I visited Service Corps Member Peggy at her service site, Project PLASE. Peggy served her for years. She is excited about the renovations underway and about moving out of the temporary location. She was a community member in need of clothes. I was happy to meet community members, along with some of the amazing staff who keep Project PLASE running smoothly.
