Mercy's Medical-Surgical Nursing team (Bunting 16) has earned the PRISM Award® from the Academy of Medical-Surgical Nurses (AMSN)!

Mercy is now the first hospital in Baltimore to receive this recognition, and one of only two in the state of Maryland. Coming alongside our recent Magnet Recognition with Distinction™ and the Beacon Award for Excellence, this honor further validates the outstanding care our nurses provide every day. Our nurses are the living continuation of the mission the Sisters of Mercy brought to Baltimore more than 151 years ago — to care for this community with dignity, compassion, and excellence.

Congratulations to our nursing program and the B16 Nurses: thank you for your expertise and your unwavering dedication to our patients and to each other. You represent the best of Mercy.

Congratulations to our latest DAISY Award Honoree! Kyle C., RNC-NIC,
from our Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) was recognized for creating and
sustaining the celebrations for babies and their families who have reached 100
days of being in the NICU. The DAISY Award honors and expresses profound
gratitude from patients, families and co-workers to those nurses that go above and
beyond in the care and kindness they provide.

The DAISY Award is an international recognition program celebrating nurses
who demonstrate extraordinary, compassionate care, reflecting our own Mercy
Mission of witnessing God's healing love through clinical excellence within a
community of compassionate care.

Last week the Weinberg Center for Women's Health & Medicine at Mercy hosted the 3rd annual Women's Health Month Awareness Event! Specialties from all across the Centers of Excellence got together to educate the Mercy community on women's health.

From our earliest beginnings, Mercy has made the care of women and children central to all we do. The Weinberg Center for Women's Health & Medicine was designed with women in mind, and today we are recognized as the region's preeminent leader in women's health care, mid-life cancers and innovative treatment therapies.

Today is Mercy's Benefits Fair! Mercy employees have the opportunity to speak with a variety of vendors and Benefits team members from 7 am - 7 pm to learn about all our incredible Benefits offerings.

With it being an Active enrollment, it's especially important for employees to understand any changes to the Benefits plan and ask questions to Benefits experts. Plus, employees could get a mid-day back massage, enjoy a trail mix bar, and spin the wheel at many of our vendor's tables to win prizes!

While the Benefits fair is only today, the Benefits team is offering sessions throughout the next week and a half to answer questions & help the Mercy family enroll at our downtown hospital and hub sites! Thank you, Mercy Benefits!

"You will also be shaped by the Mercy tradition: seeing the dignity in every patient, offering a listening ear as often as a clinical intervention, and advocating for those whose needs might otherwise be overlooked." - Sr. Helen Amos, RSM.

The future of Mercy Nursing is bright: last fall, we welcomed the inaugural class of Loyola Nursing students to Mercy. We are thrilled to welcome this new class through our new partnership.

Mercy's Nursing education is deeply tied to our mission of serving the community and welcoming all people, a principle established by Sister Catherine McAuley and the Sisters of Mercy. In fact, Loyola and Mercy have a shared history as faith-based, mission-driven institutions deeply committed to the City of Baltimore. Founded in 1852 by the Society of Jesus, Loyola merged in 1971 with Mount Saint Agnes College, a women's college founded by the Sisters of Mercy, who also founded Mercy Medical Center in downtown Baltimore in 1874.

In continuing with our Nurses Week celebrations, we're looking back a few months ago, when Mercy earned Magnet Recognition® with Distinction from the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC)! This marks Mercy's fourth consecutive Magnet designation since 2011, and our first with Distinction.

It is a testament to the extraordinary skill, compassion, and commitment of our nursing professionals who deliver exceptional care to our patients every single day .This recognition reflects more than 150 years of our mission in action—and your dedication to the patients and families we are privileged to serve.

Magnet with Distinction is reserved for hospitals that exceed even the rigorous standards required for Magnet designation. Mercy is now one of only 75 hospitals in the entire country to hold this prestigious distinction.
