MEET ELEVEN — OUR SWEET LITTLE LOVE BUG

Eleven is about 13 weeks old, and her foster mom keeps using the same word to describe her:

Exceptional.

She’s affectionate, gentle and on the calmer side for a puppy. She loves to play with other dogs and kids, but she also knows how to settle — on the couch for snuggles, quietly with a toy, or in her crate for a nap.

She has been wonderful with the **3- and 6-year-old children** in her foster home and is very respectful of the two older resident dogs.

And somehow this baby already has better dinner manners than a lot of adult dogs. While her foster family eats, Eleven doesn’t beg — she goes and lies down.

She has shown no food guarding or aggression, loud household noises don’t seem to faze her, and she responds really well to verbal redirection.

Eleven is still a puppy, though, and we’re looking for an adopter who understands that even an "easy puppy" needs consistency, structure, socialization and training to grow into a great adult dog.

We don’t know her exact breed mix. Her fluffy brother Hopper looks very Great Pyrenees-ish, while Eleven looks more Shepherd-type, so genetics clearly had some fun with these two.

What we do know is that she is sweet, confident, kid-friendly, dog-friendly and incredibly lovable. She's also crate trained; and does great entertaining herself with her toys.

MEET FOLSOM: PROFESSIONAL VELCRO DOG, PART-TIME UNDERBITE MODEL

Named afte“Folsom Prison Blues” by Johnny Cash, this little guy may have a tough-sounding name, but he is really just a tiny cuddle addict with an underbite that makes you fall instantly in love.

Folsom is a 3–4 year old Chihuahua mix whose main goal in life is pretty simple:

Find his person. Attach himself to that person. Remain there indefinitely. And once you are in his trust circle, he will never forget you - he is so excited when he is reunite with former foster parents. He never forgets a friendly, trusted face.

He is a world-class cuddler, walks beautifully on leash, listens well, is trustworthy in the house, and gets along great with other dogs.

Once Folsom decides you’re his person, congratulations — you now have a tiny loyal shadow. 🥹

Folsom absolutely adores women. He can be unsure of unfamiliar men and may react when he feels nervous, so he needs someone willing to give him time, patience and proper introductions rather than expecting instant trust.

Because of that, we think he’ll be happiest in a calmer home with adults or older, respectful kids who understand how to give a dog space and let him come around at his own pace.

Don’t be fooled by his stunning good looks. Woofie isn’t your average heartthrob. He’s a complicated little enigma wrapped in an absurdly adorable package.

Woofie is the king of mixed signals. Loving him means going on a journey to discover his triggers right alongside all the ridiculously sweet things that make him… Woofie.

For example, his foster can be minding her own business, carrying a blanket to the couch on the opposite side of the room, and Woofie is suddenly like, “NOT ON MY WATCH!.” Why was the blanket offensive? Excellent question. We’re still gathering data.

But this is also a dog who prefers to be hand-fed. He’ll rub his little body against your legs while you wash dishes. He follows you around. He watches you shower like a tiny stalker with absolutely no respect for personal boundaries.

And with dogs? 200% dog friendly. He’s social, adorable, and seems to understand dogs beautifully. People are where things get complicated. Every once in a while, something completely ordinary seems to flip a switch—almost like suddenly you, an object, or a movement reminds him of someone or something from a life we know nothing about.

So no, Woofie isn’t going to be everybody’s dog. He needs someone who can read him, respect what he’s communicating, laugh at some of his ridiculousness, and understand that trust with him may not always be linear.

He’s weird. He’s complicated. He’s affectionate. He’s suspicious of blankets. He’s a bathroom creeper. He’s ridiculously handsome.

He’s Woofie. And for the right person, figuring out this strange little man might just be half the fun.

𝐓𝐡𝐢𝐬 𝐢𝐬 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐬𝐭𝐨𝐫𝐲 𝐨𝐟 𝐦𝐲 𝐚𝐝𝐨𝐩𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐣𝐨𝐮𝐫𝐧𝐞𝐲. It hasn’t been linear. I was born in the rescue's care in 2021 right after my mom was saved from a shelter.

None of this happened because I’m a bad dog. I have snuggled with countless foster kittens, lived with dogs of all sizes. I'm house trained and affectionate with my human.

My first adopters begged for me when I was a tiny puppy. They were almost too eager to bring me home, but promised they were prepared for a puppy. But they weren't. I was returned days later.

Next I was adopted by a sweet young couple, and my mom trained me. But when they broke up, mom had tournaments requiring travel, and there was no longer anyone at home to care for me. I will always love her for giving me that extra time with her so New Hope could search for a foster home me and she made videos of the commands I knew to help with my transition.

Another young couple adopted me. We were committed to getting it right - so I wouldn't come back again. My new mom touted her significant training experience and commitment to me, and even her own mother promised to be my backup if anything ever happened. But that couple separated too. New Hope didn’t know that my dad had kept me and moved several hours away. When he fell on hard times, New Hope contacted my mom. She would not take me back and acknowledged she was breaking the promise she had made to me and to the rescue.

Dad drove me 3 hours to New Hope where I met Ms Paddi, my foster for the last year and a half. She introduced me to pup cups! I go ride with her to get them every Saturday.

I’m mature dog now, and I’m looking for that same maturity my new mom or dad. I need someone stable that sees me as a family member and won’t give me up because of a new hobby, a travel schedule, a move, a job change or the end of a relationship.

Could that someone be you?

𝐓𝐡𝐢𝐬 𝐢𝐬 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐡𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐭𝐛𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐤𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐬𝐢𝐝𝐞 𝐨𝐟 𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐜𝐮𝐞 𝐰𝐞 𝐫𝐚𝐫𝐞𝐥𝐲 𝐬𝐡𝐚𝐫𝐞-

Baby Ben came to New Hope abnormally small and medically fragile with Manx syndrome and a partial prolapse. Manx syndrome kittens' bodies grow at a slower pace than a non-manx syndrome kittens. From the beginning, it seemed as though his body was working against him.

But by Monday, Ben was struggling to breathe right in front of us and time was not on our side. We rushed Ben to the vet for comprehensive bloodwork, three-view X-rays and a STAT radiologist review. We needed to understand why Ben was struggling and whether there was something we could treat.

Instead, the diagnostics revealed an extremely enlarged heart, significant fluid accumulation both in around his lungs and severely enlarged kidneys.

We chose to let Baby Ben go peacefully surrounded by love rather than ask his tiny, fragile body to continue suffering while we searched for a solution we were unlikely to find. Ben was also co-dependent and had to have his colon and bladder expressed by his foster mom to go to the bathroom and this was harder on his body with the fluid buildup from his bigger than life heart of gold.

𝐎𝐮𝐫 𝐬𝐰𝐞𝐞𝐭 𝐁𝐚𝐛𝐲 𝐁𝐞𝐧 𝐢𝐬 𝐠𝐨𝐧𝐞—𝐛𝐮𝐭 𝐡𝐢𝐬 𝐧𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐥𝐲 $𝟏,𝟎𝟎𝟎 𝐢𝐧 𝐞𝐦𝐞𝐫𝐠𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐲 𝐛𝐢𝐥𝐥 𝐫𝐞𝐦𝐚𝐢𝐧𝐬
We are desperately asking for support to help us pay for Ben’s final vet bill so we can continue helping the animals in our care who depend on us. If you are able to give even $5, $10 or $25 toward his bill, it will help replenish the funds the rescue needs to keep caring for the animals already depending on us — and eventually be able to say yes to the next one who needs help.

Baby was doted on and deeply loved for each of the 45 days he spent with Anna. And our rescue was able to get the answers we needed to make a difficult but compassionate decision for him.

That matters too. Giving Ben love, comfort, answers, and freedom from suffering was still a successful act of rescue - but it's the heartbreaking side of rescue that feels difficult to share.

For National Dog Day, we celebrate the dogs who have every reason not to trust humans — and somehow choose to trust us again. ❤️

We want to take a moment to celebrate resilient spirits like Lady Long Legs, who was found all alone in a park, paralyzed with a broken back. This kind of injury would take significant force.

We may never know what happened to her or how she ended up in that park, but this tiny girl keeps showing us that a hard beginning does not have to define the rest of the story.

Today, we’re celebrating her strength as she begins finding mobility in her own way without the use of her back legs, her sweetness, and her growing confidence.
Lady Long Legs is still writing the rest of her story — and we’re so grateful she got the chance to.

Happy National Dog Day to the underdogs, the overlooked pups, and the dogs others might walk away from. These are the dogs our mission began with.

But we have always been animal people, and as New Hope has grown, so has our mission.

We are here for the dogs. We are here for the cats. We are here for the pet in front of us who needs us most. ❤️

SUNDAY FUNDAY WITH SUNDANCE & ELEVEN 🐾☀️

Can someone please explain to us how Sundance is STILL waiting for a home?

Sundance came into our rescue on Easter 2024 as a tiny six-week-old puppy — even smaller than Eleven is in this video. More than two years later, he’s still here. And somehow, the longer we know this dog, the more we wonder how everyone keeps missing out on him.

Just watch him with Eleven. ❤️

Sundance is the dog his foster mom never minds having around because he is just easy. He gives the BEST snuggles, loves his people, and has welcomed foster after foster into his home.

Cats? Yep.
Kittens? Yep.
Little dogs? Puppies? Big dogs? Yep, yep and yep.

He isn’t looking for trouble with other dogs. Quite the opposite — Sundance genuinely loves them.

His biggest barrier to adoption is something that sounds much scarier on paper than it actually is: Sundance can be leash reactive.

And leash reactive does not mean aggressive.

For Sundance, it means he gets SO excited when he sees a leash — and then SO excited when he sees another dog — that sometimes all those feelings come bursting out at once. He just hasn’t mastered what to do with that excitement while he’s restrained on a leash.

Put him in a yard with a dog friend? Look at him. 🥹

He’d LOVE a home with a yard and a canine buddy to play with, but he absolutely doesn’t need another dog. He’d be equally happy being your best friend and soaking up all the attention himself. He can enjoy walks, especially in a quieter neighborhood without dogs passing every few feet, and he does perfectly well going places he needs to go, including the vet.

Sundance and Eleven are BOTH available for adoption, and both originally came from the same Central Texas community before eventually finding their way to the same shelter — and then to us.

Adoptions for medium and larger mixed-breed dogs are painfully slow right now. And yet these are the dogs whose DNA may be a mystery, but whose personalities absolutely aren’t.

Sundance is sweet. He’s goofy. He’s affectionate. He’s incredibly dog-friendly. He’s lived peacefully with cats and kittens. He’s an expert foster-brother. And after more than two years in rescue, he deserves for somebody besides his foster family to finally see what we see.

So maybe we need to try something new.
