There is comfort in connecting with people who understand the caregiving journey.

Join Alzheimer’s Texas for our next Caregiver Conversations, a virtual space where dementia caregivers can come together for honest conversation, shared support, and practical guidance.

Led by clinical social worker Joan Asseff, LCSW-S, each session creates space to discuss real-life challenges, exchange strategies, and connect with others who understand what caregiving truly looks like.

Whether you are looking for guidance, support, or simply a space to listen, this community is here for you. Sign up through the link in our bio.

Alzheimer’s Texas’ largest corporate donor, Westminster, a senior living community, is celebrating Earth Day by hosting a free drive-thru shred day for the community. 🌿

Safely disposing of sensitive documents is a simple step that can help protect older adults from identity theft and fraud while providing peace of mind.

We are grateful for Westminster’s continued partnership and support of our mission to support people with Alzheimer’s and related disorders, their families and caregivers, and to advance research.

Join us in supporting the Westminster community and take part in this community event on April 22nd.

A promising breakthrough from is bringing new momentum to the fight against Alzheimer’s.

Researchers have developed an innovative nasal spray designed to target harmful tau protein buildup, a key driver of cognitive decline. By delivering therapeutic antibodies directly to the brain, this non-invasive approach may help improve cognitive function while overcoming traditional treatment barriers.

While still in early stages, the findings signal meaningful progress toward more effective treatments.

"Breakthroughs will come from understanding the root causes of dementia.” — Dr. Huda Y. Zoghbi

Across Texas, scientists are working to translate discovery into treatment. With support from DPRIT, researchers are exploring ways to reduce harmful tau proteins, a key factor in many forms of dementia, and accelerate therapies from the lab to patients.

When state investment meets world-class research, the path toward prevention and treatment becomes stronger. This is what progress looks like, and why continued support for neurological research matters now more than ever.

Photos can be a powerful tool for connection in dementia care 📸. Looking through familiar images often encourages reminiscence, reduces anxiety, and creates moments of comfort even when words are hard to find.

A simple photo book, organized around meaningful life moments and familiar faces, can help spark conversation and provide reassurance 📽️🩵. The focus is not on remembering perfectly, but on sharing time and connection in a way that feels safe.
