Update: Kate is off to her new home and is already loved by her young family

Kate is a 4 year old spayed female. She is up to date on all vaccines and heartworm free. She is ready for adoption

Kate is a sweet soft soul who adores being with her people. She is currently 70 # but was underweight from her former life as a doodle breeder. She should gain weight and begin to shine with good grub and care.

She takes a few minutes to warm up to anything new , but after she does she is your shadow and best friend

She gets along with cats and other dogs just fine.

Please complete an application at lonestarbmd.org under the rescue tab and send to [email protected]

Questions? Just ask

She is currently in the Carrollton TX area

Angel is off to her new home with an applicant from this list. Be a good girl Angel!

Meet Angel: A 4 year old spayed female, up to date for all vaccines and heartworm prevention
Angel is located North of the Dallas area and is looking for a new forever home

She gets along with other spayed females and neutered boys. She really has not been around children. We would recommend middle school age and up. Sometimes she questions meeting men and may give a deep bark. With reassurance she settles and is fine. We let her approach and somewhat ignore her , letting her make the move. She is great with all gals. She has been with us for several days and greets my husband without issue. Happy to see him

Angel doesn’t always live up to her name when it comes to walking on leash. She needs an obedience class taken with new owners in order to understand walking nicely on leash is the best thing to do.
Needs a review of general manners.

She is house broken and crate trained. She is about 80 #.

Moose 9 years old.
Moose is back into our program for adoption. His currently placement wasn’t the right one for Moose.

Moose is with us as his owner of 8 years passed away. He specifically asked us to find Moose, his companion to be rehomed through us

Moose needs to be the only dog in the household. No cats either. This is the way he lived his life as the sole receiver of love and attention. And Moose would like to keep it that way.

Moose is special as he is a boy that Lone Star will cover all his expenses, except food costs for the rest of his days. And Moose is a happy active guy. Would love to take walks and needs a fenced yard to run about.

Can you show love to Moose and let him be the center of attention? Older guys need love too.
Please apply with application found at lonestarbmd.org and email to [email protected]

Pm for any questions.

Currently located in Austin TX area. Due to hospice agreement he is to be kept in Texas. No shipping. Must be able to pick up

🐾 MEET ARCHIE!

Archie is a 2-year-old purebred male Bernese Mountain Dog looking for the right home to help him thrive.

Important detail:
Archie has a bite history. While this is an important part of his story, we believe it does not define who he is. He will need a patient, consistent, and understanding home committed to giving him the structure and support he needs to succeed. Because of this history, Archie must be placed in an adult-only household.

Training & Manners:
Archie is leash trained, crate trained, and fully house trained. He rides well in the car and settles nicely during travel.

Activity Level:
He is an active boy who loves to run around in the yard, go on hikes, and play fetch. He would do best with an owner who can keep him mentally and physically engaged.

Medical:
Archie is currently on anti-anxiety medication to help manage his anxious tendencies.

Ideal Home:
Archie is looking for an active, adult-only home. He needs slow, patient introductions to new people and consistent guidance to help him feel secure. While he is dog-friendly, he would thrive best as the only dog in the home, where he can receive focused attention and continued support.

🟢 crate trained, house trained, active- ready for adventures!

🟡 bite history, needs slow introductions to new people

Adoption fees and details are on our site.

Please note: Applications are carefully reviewed and matched based on each dog’s specific needs. We’ll reach out if we believe you’re a potential match. Due to the high volume of applications, we’re unable to respond to everyone individually. Thank you for understanding!

UPDATE 2-18-2026

Moose
Moose is a 9 year old BMD neutered and up to date on vaccines and heartworm prevention and is looking for a home

Moose was adopted 8 years ago through us and his owner recently passed away. The family is unable to keep him and called LSBMDR.

I have fostered Moose for over three weeks. And it took all of three weeks to see the true Moose.
He has settled into routine here and is finally enjoying life.
Moose , I am happy to say does get along with spayed females and neutered males. While he lived as a single dog all his life he does want to play and interact with the other dogs.
Moose has a deep bark and after a bit I realized it was his play bark. The dogs realized it before me.
Cats, no. He still wants to chase and use his mouth to greet kitty. She says no, he gets more excited she exits the room.

He wants attention and like a typical Berner nudges you for it

Quirks:
Counter surfer who does not understand NO. He can sweep a counter clean in two seconds flat. And continues Must be watched during food prep!
Will not use a crate. Was never crated and will not go into one. Period
Moose needs to stay in Texas as his veterinary needs will be covered by Lone Star BMD Rescue for his lifetime. We will cover his vaccines and annual and heartworm prevention
Can you open your heart and home to Moose?
Please contact [email protected] for more information

*ANNOUNCING THE 2026 CANCER FUNDRAISER*

I am happy to announce the 2026 Cancer Fundraiser. My goal is to raise $40,000 to fight Histiocytic Sarcoma “Histio” in our beloved Berners. $30,000 will go towards the Histio Research below and adthe ditional $10,000 raised will go into the BMDC Charitable Foundation Health Program to support future cancer research.

I’m sure that everyone reading this message has either had a Berner who passed away from histio or knows a Berner friend whose Berner did.

Be sure to indicate 2026 Cancer Fundraiser on the drop down menu

This is the histio research that we will raise money for this year:

Cancers begin with changes in normal cells that are not detected by the regular immune system. As a result, tumors can grow unchecked. To fix these changes we need treatments that can reach inside the cancer cells. Current treatments fail to do so. In this research, engineered bacteria (quasi-organelles) are developed that can enter into cancer cells and deliver cancer fighting proteins from within. In this research project the focus is on histiocytic sarcoma (HS) a cancer Bernese Mountain Dog owners are all too familiar with.

Our current fundraiser is looking to raise $30,000 to help fund the initial steps of this project to find a novel treatment for HS. The first phase will involve the efficiency by which quasi-organelles can enter cells in laboratory settings. This will be followed by determining their efficacy and safety in dogs with HS. If successful, this research could lead to a new class of cancer therapies.

The commitment of the BMDCF to help fund this research shows their on-going recognition of Histio as a major concern in the breed, and their willingness to help researchers in their search for finding a treatment.

SHOW YOUR LOVE ON VALENTINE'S DAY FOR YOUR CURRENT AND PREVIOUS BERNERS BY MAKING A DONATION TODAY!!
