💚 NEXT FRIDAY OCTOBER 16th!

📼Join us at WE LUV VIDEO from 5:00pm - Midnight to celebrate the ethereal splendor of magnetic tape with a marathon session of VHS oddities from the darkest reaches of our shelves, screened in the micro cinema, plus vendors from Austin VHS Swap scattered throughout the store.

💥The main event: special fx artist Gwenyth Williamson takes over for a live demo, crafting gore, gags, and grotesque practical magic right before your eyes. We can’t think of a better way to get amped up for International Video Store Day on Saturday.

💚 NEXT THURSDAY OCTOBER 15TH THE WENLUV VIDEO CLERKS PROGRAMMING SPOTLIGHT RETURNS, WITH 1978’s MAGIC!

🪄Corky (Anthony Hopkins), a failed magician, adopts a new ventriloquist act with an abrasive dummy named Fats, and suddenly finds himself lined up for a television show. When the unbalanced Corky runs away with Fats to his hometown, he meets an old love from high school, Peggy (Ann-Margret). But Fats, who seems to be taking on a mind of his own, doesn’t approve of the relationship. Magic is a rom-com disguised as a horror movie with ventriloquist dummies.

*A NOTE ON PRICING*
You may have noticed that this month’s Odd World isn’t free, so let’s talk about it. As the store has grown and our events have taken on loftier goals our costs have risen pretty considerably. As one of the board members I felt like I needed to contribute as much as possible and the decision was made that Odd World moving forward will be $5. I hope you understand and will still come and hang out with me, I have a really wild next 6 months planned and I can’t wait to share it with you all. I just want to help the store as much as possible! Thanks y’all, love you- Joel

💚 NEXT MONDAY OCTOBER 12th!

👻Celebrating spooky season with a juggernaut of J-Horror, Ju-On: The Grudge is the second feature length installment and first theatrical release of Takashi Shimizu’s expansive and iconic Ju-On series. Widely considered its most essential chapter, Ju-On: The Grudge is chock-full of the franchise’s most culturally enduring images, from “hand come out of head in shower” to “scary lady face appear under sheets”. And, needless to say, plenty of glottal stopping and pasty little ghost boys.

So..do you want the house tour?

💚 NEXT SATURDAY OCTOBER 10th PULSING CINEMA IS BACK WITH AN AUSTIN CLASSIC

🍿Get ready for a deep cut of Austin indie horror history as Scary Movie (1991) rises from the crypt to haunt We Luv Video! This atmospheric cult oddity features future Academy Award nominee John Hawkes (Winter’s Bone) caught in a Halloween night swarming with psycho killers, Woof Woof dolls, and twisted nightmares come to life. Long celebrated by horror fans for its surreal tone and scrappy inventiveness, the film endures as a one-of-a-kind snapshot of Austin’s underground cinema scene at the dawn of the ’90s.

🎥The evening also includes a live Q&A with cast and crew, a rare screening of director Daniel Erickson’s early short “Mr. Pumpkin,” and a few other surprises in store.
