Blowcomotion is a community brass band learning workshop. We welcome folks of all musical abilities. We rehearse every Tuesday night from 7-9pm at Shipe Park.

Dust off that old tuba from high school, learn a new instrument, or pick up music for the first time! If you're interested in joining the band, head to our website and click "Join" at the top of the page. No need to own an instrument or know how to play--we can provide you with an instrument of your choice and we have professional teachers who will help you learn. All are welcome to come watch or play along with us.

We had a blast playing at Batch - Craft B**r and Kolaches 9th Anniversary party! Thanks to everyone who showed up despite the heat, great tunes and drinks were flowing all day. Congrats to Batch on 9 great years (and counting)!

Batch - Craft B**r and Kolaches is hosting their 9th anniversary party this Saturday (8/22) with free live music all day long, including a set from Blowcomotion at 7pm!

Batch has long been a huge supporter of Blowcomotion, HONK!TX and the wider Austin music scene. We’ve had a blast hosting our own anniversary parties and fundraisers at Batch in the past (featured in this post!).

So, block off Saturday night to come out and celebrate 9 years of Batch and enjoy some drinks and live music! Hope to see you there.

This post is long overdue 🫣 Back in the spring, we were honored to host a community workshop featuring the Original Pinettes Brass Band! They were in town from New Orleans for the Austin Blues Festival and dropped in at Festival Beach to teach us some secondline fundamentals and how to play two of their songs without any sheet music. It was an absolute blast!

For more photos and videos from the workshop, check out the Highlights tab on our website. Special thanks to Prime Contrast Media and Barbara Eloisa Photography for capturing this super special afternoon for us!

This workshop was made possible through funding provided by the Cultural Arts Division of the City of Austin Economic Development Department.
