🍋 When life gives you lemons, give the gift of reading! 📚💛

Sutton and her big brother, Nate, hosted a lemonade stand to raise money to support Bridge of Books and help put books into the hands of kids across New Jersey who need them.

Their grandmother, Carol, a retired educator, took them to buy new books with the money they raised. The trio delivered 4 bags of books!

One cup, one book, and one kind act at a time - this is impact. Thank you Nate, Sutton and Carol!

Treating the family as a whole creates pathways to better outcomes for children and families who need them. Healthy children are less likely to miss school. And healthy children who are in school with access to books are more likely to retain and develop grade level literacy skills. The parents of children who aren’t missing school don’t have to miss work and lose pay. The potential list of positive outcomes is endless, especially where there is collaboration among service providers. Books can fit into ANY collaboration where helping children is a goal.

Giving kids the opportunity to spend time looking for the right books - it’s what we do. And we certainly couldn’t create these opportunities without the tremendous support we receive from our community!

Great day giving away books to kids of all ages at the Boys & Girls Club in Elizabeth. Big shout out to News 12 New Jersey for organizing this Back-to-School-Back-Pack event which brought community providers together to help kids start the school year off right!

A back-to-school giveaway at the Boys & Girls Club of Elizabeth brought together community organizations and local businesses to provide children with backpacks, school supplies, books and other resources.
