Freedom is worth honoring, today and always.

On Juneteenth, we pause to recognize the power of liberation, truth, and community. As an organization built on raising awareness so that no family has to lose someone due to preventable silence, these values sit at the heart of everything we do.

To every woman, every family, every community that has ever fought to be heard: we see you, and we stand with you 🧡🦋

🦋🥲 Butterflies for Maddy 2026 brought our community together to do something that truly matters: spread awareness about menstrual toxic shock syndrome, share information that could save lives, raise funds to keep making progress, and honor the memory of a girl who deserved so much more time.

Maddy’s name was spoken, mTSS stories were shared, and because of everyone who showed up, bought a ticket, donated, cheered on our models, and spread the word, we are one step closer to a world that understands mTSS.

Thank you. From the bottom of our hearts, thank you.

This is what our events are about. Stay tuned for more!

Today is Tampon Alert Day

We lost a very special & incredible person, our dear friend Maddy to mTSS. Our foundation educates on the dangers associated with tampon use. It’s very prevalent and doesn’t discriminate. Please go to our website dontshockme.org and learn “So Others May Live.”

Don’t let this happen to you like it has to so many others. Help us change women’s health policy and make a difference. 🦋

A new study published in JAMA Network Open, using data from over 71,000 women through the Apple Women’s Health Study, found that girls in the U.S. are getting their first period earlier than ever, and it’s taking longer for their cycles to regulate.

The average age of first menstruation dropped from 12.5 years (1950-1969) to 11.9 years (2000-2005), while the percentage experiencing early onset before age 11 nearly doubled.

Researchers point to rising BMI, stress, endocrine-disrupting chemicals, and socioeconomic factors as likely contributors.

Both early onset and prolonged cycle irregularity are linked to increased risks of cardiovascular disease, infertility, and early death. This also increases their risk of mTSS.

Experts say the findings are a wake-up call: menstrual health is a vital sign, and it has been historically underfunded and understudied for far too long.

mTSS disproportionately affects menstruators who don’t have access to clear health education or alternative period products.

We are working to change that.

Everyone deserves to make informed choices about their body, and that starts with open, stigma-free conversations like this one.

Drop a heart in the comments if you learned something new today.

I want to thank all of the boutiques, models, items & baskets donated by our local businesses, Cups & Cakes’cookies, the venue, DJ, photographer, sponsors, legislative supporters, basket winners, our incredible guest speaker, and all of the wonderful people who attended that made our “Butterflies for Maddy” Fundraiser a success.

It is with these donations and your generosity that we are able to continue educating and creating awareness, as well as getting bills passed on mTSS. So many lives are saved because of your kindness and support.

Thank you from the bottom of my heart. God Bless. 🥰🌷❤️

Dawn , Georgie, and our Angel Maddy 😇🦋🙏🏻
