URGENT Missy needs to find her family... 💔
She was pulled from the Newark Kill List last November and has been in fostercare since. She doesn't get along with Sassy, another dog in the home, who we also pulled from the KillList. They really get on one another's nerves! Despite both pups getting along with the 6 other pups in the house. They're both alpha girls, and both have had trauma in their past and aren't helping each others recovery and rehabilitation... Missy needs a person or family to protect, love, adventure with, and be her pack leader. She would do best on a home with someone who has had rescue dogs in the past, specifically terriers. We believe Missy is a terrier mix, perhaps Boston, Rat and or Jack... if you know someone who doesn't have small children, who can provide an enriching life, while saving hers, please reach out. We are so sad that Sassy and Missy are continuing to have words, and being in the same home isn't helping either pup in the long run... 💔

Missy is 15 pounds, spayed, housebroken, cratetrained, loves to bird watch, go for drives, walks well on a leash, and gets along with 6/7 dogs. Missy has been fine around children, but because of her food insecurities and traumatic life, she shouldn't live with small children or be with them unsupervised especially when food is around. Missy was blessed today! 🙏 We were honored to be invited by Beacon United Methodist Church in Atlantic Highlands to set up shop during their Blessing Of The Animals, and spread the good word about Peace, Love, and Rescue ✌️ Missy was very good during her blessing, excited, of course, but good. We hope that her blessing and being surrounded by a community of kind, thoughtful, and joyful people will help her on her journey to find her furever... 🙏💛✌️

Missy went on a night time adventure with her foster family to Good Karma cafe ! The smell tour was a success & the special was a delight. Missy loves going for drives, she'll miss you if you're gone too long! Don't worry she will forgive you if you bring snacks! MISSY STILL DOESN'T HAVE A HOME! We don't get it - she does have some special instructions, but with her compact 15 pound packaging, compatibility with other pups, we would have thought she'd have found them by now... plz reach out to meet her today or share her story with her networks if you can! Missy visited the Atlantic Highlands Flea Market today, where her predecessor Bruce, now Butters, found his furever family, 2 years ago to the day! Butter's dad took Missy for a walk and told us he believes Missy was kicked by a man or maybe a woman, he said he thinks thats why she can be so defensive and has recently become very protective of her foster family. Missy barked rudely at him upon arrival, but after some time, some smells, some patience, she was curious and welcoming to him! Progress was made in real time thanks to Butters' dad. :)

We are so lucky to have a community of animal people who can help us to help Missy. She does so well at home, so great with the other dogs, but she will need a patient and loving home that understands her traumatic past and give her space to trust and be the cuddle-bug we have come to love... please keep sharing her story and sending us your prayers and pawsitive vibes! She is safe with us, but we are not her furever home and really hope to find someone like Butters did, so she can start a fresh new chapter of her own... 🙏🤞✌️💛

Missy is a survivor.
She's survived homelessness. She survived the Kill List. She survived blindness- and can see fine now! She also just survived cancer. Yes, Missy had another procedure recently when we noticed a mammary gland was discolored. The cancer was removed successfully, and the type of cancer wasn't as initially feared. She has a good prognosis, proving once again that she is a determined survivor and has once again overcome an obstacle without breaking a sweat!

She has been waiting a long time now, and deserves a chance at a furever family of her own. She is a 15 pound guard dog, alpha girl! She protects hard and loves hard- She wants a partner in life or a family to love. She can live with other dogs, adult children only, and would do best in an dog-experienced - particularly terrier breeds- home. SHE IS ONLY 15 POUNDS - she does embody a big dog, in a teeny package!

Missy does wonderfully on structured walks with her pack in both crowded public spaces and wooded or natural places. She will chase birds, or sometimes bikes, but responds great to her Wonder Walker & Co. harness. Missy is housebroken, crate-trained, knows sit, wait, come, & down.

Missy gets too excited sometimes, specifically around food! She can eat right next to her foster siblings without any issues ever, but table scraps are a no-no for her. Given her stray status when found, and how much she struggles with vet care, we imagine she went hungry alot or wasn't always fed consistently in her unknown past. You can understand why food would be SO exciting for this lil girl. This issue is managed without issue in the foster home, so it's our hope that a dog-savvy home can meet her needs and provide her the guidance this Alpha Girl needs to thrive.

Okay, good news, bad news time :
Good news, I met a delightful family and did a really good job meeting them and their companions. Bad news, it just wasn't the right fit!

Please keep me in your thoughts- I'm a very good, tough little 15 pound cookie. I deserve a furever family of my own, and my foster parents are so proud of me and how far I've come since I was on the Kill List...! 🙏

Missy doesn't stop to wonder why no one wants to adopt her, she's happy for today! She loves going on drives & walks with her foster family. She takes her household duties of protecting the family very seriously, almost as seriously as she takes her cuddle time. Missy is a 15 pound Boston terrier mix who survived the Kill List-- She is ready for a family of her own:

She has a prey drive, so must be careful around birds!

URGENT Missy needs to find her furever home... we are desperately asking for your help to spread the word... she has been in foster care since November 2025 after surviving the Kill List.. She has made so much progress here, and is so ready for a loving family of her own.. However, one of her foster sisters is not a fan of hers... we will give you one guess who! 🫠 She is a bit of a bully to Missy on occasion, but Missy is a champ who mostly ignores Sassy's sassiness.

Missy is 15 pounds, about 7 years old and we believe she is a Boston Terrier mix. She gets along with other dogs (even the rude ones!), is housebroken, spayed, and crate trained! She would do best with an experienced family because she is an alpha girl, and is also a master cuddler! Can you share her story today?
