Oron Development Union USA, Atlanta Chapter Donates Educational Materials to Pupils in Udung Uko
"Calls for Commitment from Teachers, Parents in Nurturing Future Leaders"
Pupils of selected public primary schools across Udung Uko Local Government Area have received educational materials from the Oron Development Union USA, Atlanta Chapter, as part of the organisation’s efforts to support grassroots education and encourage children to remain committed to their studies.
The educational intervention programme which marks the Second Edition according to the initiative coordinator Snr. Comrade Ini Okon Ubukho, noted that ; the donation was designed to provide quality learning materials to pupils in rural communities while encouraging them to pursue their education with confidence, courage and determination.
The programme
commenced at Government Primary School, Ekim, where the coordinator and his entourage were received by the headmistress, village head, members of the village council, youths, women, elders, parents, teachers and pupils.
The visit generated excitement among members of the community, particularly the pupils, who welcomed the educational support.
Speaking during the presentation, Snr. Comrade Ini Okon Ubukho said the initiative was part of the organisation’s commitment to giving back to society and investing in the younger generation.
He described education as the bedrock of human and community development, stressing that sustainable development requires collective efforts to ensure that children have access to quality education, knowledge and the skills needed to contribute meaningfully to society.
According to him, the decision to extend the Educational supports to the rural schools was deliberate, as children in remote communities may have fewer opportunities to benefit from government interventions and support from donor organisations compared with their counterparts in urban centres.
He said the programme was therefore aimed at contributing to the development of a structured, functional and quality education system across Oro Nation, particularly at the grassroot.
Responding to the donation, the Headmistress of Government Primary School, Ekim, expressed appreciation to the Oron Development Union USA, Atlanta Chapter, for the gesture.
She called on teachers to remain disciplined, dedicated and committed to their responsibilities, noting that the pupils are future leaders who require proper guidance, training and encouragement to prepare them for the challenges ahead.
Similarly, Mrs. Mercy William Isikong, Headmistress of Primary School, Uboro Isong Inyang, commended the organisation for its Educational intervention programme and described the donation as a meaningful contribution to educational development.
She appreciated the coordinator and the Atlanta Chapter for supporting pupils across Oro Nation and called on other well-meaning individuals, organisations and community stakeholders to emulate the initiative.
Snr. Comrade Ini Okon Ubokho disclosed that the latest intervention was the second edition of the Union’s educational support programme for primary school pupils in Udung Uko.
He encouraged teachers and pupils to continue striving for excellence and urged the beneficiaries to make judicious use of the educational materials provided.
He also challenged the pupils to remember the importance of giving back to society when they eventually become successful adults.
According to him, the beneficiaries should also emulate the example of the Oron Development Union USA, Atlanta Chapter, by supporting less-privileged children in their communities when they become financially capable.
He said cultivating a culture of giving and community service would contribute to strengthening the education system and creating more opportunities for children at the grassroots.
The educational outreach also took the delegation to Methodist Primary School, Eyo-Osung, where educational materials were presented to the school.
Receiving the materials on behalf of the school, Deaconess Arit Edet Eyo, Headmistress of the school, expressed delight over the visit and thanked the organisation for remembering pupils in rural communities.
She noted that the gesture would support underprivileged pupils and help them pursue their educational aspirations, while also contributing to academic excellence among schoolchildren.
Deaconess Eyo wished the organisers success in their future endeavours and encouraged other organisations and individuals to invest in education, particularly in rural communities.

St. Vincent Primary School, Edikor
Convent Primary School, Eyokponung, Udung Uko LGA Aks.
The Oron Development Union USA, Atlanta Chapter, has indicated its intention to extend their donations to other primary schools across Oro Nation.
