The first secret society for women, the Adelphean Society was founded May 15, 1851 at the first college to grant degrees to women--Wesleyan Female College in Macon, Georgia. The founder was Eugenia Tucker who invited her friends to join the group--Ella Pierce, Octavia Andrew, Elizabeth Williams, Sophonia Woodruff Dews, and Mary Evans. The name was changed to Alpha Delta Pi in 1913 as the organizat

ion expanded. The Sorority's motto is "We Live for Each Other." The Sorority's national philanthropy is the Ronald McDonald House Charities. Zeta Omicron Chapter was installed in 1977.

160 Sixth Street was the first modern post-WWII house built on Tech campus. It was built in 1950--before Alexander Coliseum (now McCamish) was built. The fraternity was then Phi Epsilon Pi (founded 1916 on Tech campus). That national merged with Zeta Beta Tau in 1970. Ernest Scheller (business school) and Alvin Ferst (Ferst Dr & Ferst Center for Arts) were both members. This rendering is from the Blueprint.

Painters removed the "mailbox" style door numbers when they painted the doors. Could we have gone back with mailbox door numbers? Yes. Were we going to use the opportunity to have ADPi door number signs made? Also yes.

The ADPi House renovation has been going for 2 months and so much progress! Check out our photos! This time next year, we'll be having Recruitment in our expanded sorority home. Increasing from 24 to 47 beds so more ADPi sisters can live in their Chapter House. New chef's kitchen, new resident's kitchen/family room, more study rooms (group and individual), and an elevator. Going from 8500 sf to 20,300 sf. Plus a wrap-around porch!

We'll be sharing more photos and info in the next week. Future photos will show the interior. The existing structure is being reinforced for the expansion--so lots of drywall being removed that will be put back.

We'll share info on the contractor Moeller Purcell (lots of GT alums) and our temporary home at ZBT (we've sororitized a fraternity house.)
