As we move into the summer season, the American Red Cross has an urgent need for blood and platelet donors. We're counting on people to act now and schedule a blood donation appointment to help medical centers stay ready and respond quickly to emergencies.

Having blood products immediately available is a key part of summer safety. The need for blood is constant.

Every two seconds, someone in the U.S. needs blood.

Make an appointment now at RedCrossBlood.org or download our free Red Cross Blood Donor App.

Grateful doesn’t even begin to cover it!

Our Greater Atlanta Chapter Board of Directors closed out Fiscal Year 2026 and these photos capture just a glimpse of the dedication they bring to the Red Cross.

Thank you to each board member for strengthening our mission and shaping our future.

A special note of appreciation to our outgoing chairman, Hugh Rowden, for guiding us with commitment and vision throughout the year. And congratulations to our incoming chairwoman, Meghann M. McNally, we’re excited for the dedication and direction you’ll bring to FY27.

Here’s to a year of impact and to the leaders who make it possible.

Today marks the beginning of the 2026 hurricane season.

Now is the time to prepare. Know where you'll go in case of a disaster and how you'll get there. You can also stock two emergency kits: a go kit in case you have to evacuate, and a stay-at-home kit to cover your family in the case of prolonged power outages.

Red Cross Regional Disaster Officer Adelaide Kirk shares some preparedness advice.

The American Red Cross urges families to stay actively engaged around water. Don’t just swim—watch. Close, constant supervision can make the difference between life and death.

WATER SAFETY TIPS
• Nobody should ever swim alone – adults and teens as well as children.
• Always designate a “water watcher.”
• Wear properly fitted U.S. Coast Guard-approved life jackets around water.
• Reach or throw, don't go!

A huge thank you to Orkin for partnering with the Red Cross for a lifesaving blood drive at Fernbank Museum of Natural History!🩸🦟

Through the “Mosquitoes Don’t Deserve a Drop” campaign, donors helped make a real difference for patients who need those drops for lifesaving blood transfusions every day.

Every two seconds, someone in the U.S. needs blood. Partnerships like this help ensure hospitals have the critical supply needed for patients facing emergencies, surgeries, cancer treatments and more.

Together, we’re showing the power of community one blood donation at a time. Thank you to everyone who rolled up a sleeve to help save lives!

Thank You for Boot Scootin’ for a cause! 🎉🤠

We are incredibly grateful to our amazing partners, donors, sponsors and volunteers who made this year’s Boot Scoot Boogie Bash such a memorable night!

From the live music and dancing to the shared spirit of giving, the evening was a true celebration of what we can accomplish together. Every dollar raised helps ensure we’re there when it matters most.

Thank you for standing with us and making a difference across Georgia. And a special note of appreciation to our presenting mission sponsors, Aurubis Richmond and Savannah River Nuclear Solutions.
