Hello all! This is a reminder that our Apple Grafting workshop is this Sunday, April 19th! Derek Mills from Hocking Hills Orchard will be giving a hands-on lesson in how to graft your very own apple tree!

We ask for a $10 suggested donation will cover one scion, one rootstock, and grafting supplies. Please bring your own utility knife with a new blade if you have one. Pre-registration is not required. A total of 50 rootstocks are available. Additional rootstocks and scions available for a donation while supplies last.
The workshop will be held on April 19th from 1-3 pm at The Ridges, Building 22, RM 221, Athens, OH.

Now that spring is finally upon us, it's time to get out into the garden! If you're interested in learning how to start your very own orchard, or looking to improve one you already have, join us for a hands-on lesson in apple tree grafting with local expert Derek Mills from Hocking Hills Orchard!

There is just one more week until registration for our summer day camp opens! This year camp will be held from July 13th - July 17th, from 9am - 4pm daily. Registration will open on on March 23rd at noon for members, and will open at March 24th at noon for non-members. Spots fill fast, so mark your calendars and make sure your membership is up to date now!

Summer camp season is approaching faster than you think! Registration for our annual RCP Summer Camp opens on March 23th at noon for members, and on March 24th at noon for non-members. This year camp will be held from July 13th through July 17th for those entering 2nd - 6th grade! Spots fill up fast, so mark your calendars!

Thank you to everyone who came out to our annual Owl Prowl this past Thursday! We had a great turnout! Thank you again to Lake Hope State Park for hosting us, Hocking Hills State Park for letting us meet their wonderful ambassador owl, and to Lake Hope State Park Naturalist Kaylin Callander for giving us an amazing presentation. We hope everyone had a great time!

Our RCP annual Owl Prowl is TONIGHT! Join us at Lake Hope Lodge for an evening of owl pellet dissections, crafts, and a live owl demonstration! We hope to see you there! Additionally, as a reminder, the lodge will no longer be serving food!

Hello everyone! We are just one week away from our annual Owl Prowl! As an update, the Lake Hope Lodge will no longer be serving food that evening, but we will still be having our event, weather permitting! Join us from 6pm - 8pm on February 5th for crafts, owl pellet dissections, and a live owl presentation! We hope to see you there!

Our 2026 Annual Owl Prowl is coming up! Join us on February 5th at the Lake Hope Lodge for an evening of fun! The event will run from from 6pm - 8pm, and will include crafts, owl pellet dissections, and a live owl demonstration! It'll be a Hoot!

Hello RCP Friends! Let's give a late but warm welcome to our newest RCP Americorps member, Lily Kijek!

'Hello! My name is Lily Kijek and I am the newest Appalachian Ohio Restore AmeriCorps member serving with Raccoon Creek Partnership for this upcoming term. As a first year AmeriCorps member, I am beyond excited to begin my full year of service with the latest and greatest scenic river in the State of Ohio!

Originally from Northeast Ohio, I obtained a bachelor of arts degree in political science from Cleveland State University at the end of 2022, with an invested focus in environmental policy, politics of conservation and sustainability, and how humans and the environment interact and rely on one another. After, I spent 5 months as a water ecology field assistant with the Greater Cleveland Aquarium. In August of 2025, I graduated from Ohio University’s Master of Science in Environmental Studies program, with a focus on water quality, environmental conservation, sustainability, and plastic pollution/microplastics. I absolutely love spending my time outside hiking, riding my bicycle, gardening, disc golfing, and searching for different types of bugs. I also enjoy listening to old music, crocheting, playing board games like Settlers of Catan and Dominion, and building reptile, fish, and amphibian enclosures.

I cannot wait to begin my service with Raccoon Creek Partnership and further deepen my understanding of environmental stewardship, conservation, outreach, and education through hands-on collaborative efforts!'
