Still here, folks, on the grind for my friends, and we need your help. (So give us the money you’d give the taxman!!)

19 months since the full scale invasion of Ukraine. War fatigue and exhaustion are rife across the nation, physically and mentally wounded defenders return from the frontlines every day, citizens are under attack in their own homes, and the need for healing is as desperate as it has ever been.

AUTUMN RENEWAL - 2-6 November 2023 - dozens of defenders and volunteers returned from the frontlines will be welcomed to the facilities of Сreative Residence MC6 in the Carpathian Mountains for four days of deep rest and retreat, meant to provide incubation for true healing to take place. Psychologists, craftsman, artisans, physical therapists, musicians, and lecturers will help create of empathy, interaction, and integration to foster renewal of spirits, and help they who have put their lives at risk see the beauty of what they're fighting for -- a free and sovereign nation in the thick of its greatest cultural renaissance.

May 2023 saw the birth and complete success of CARPATHIAN SPRING, a music, arts, and cultural support festival at MC6. Musicians, lecturers, singing instructors, craftsman, chefs, writers, and visual artists traveled from all corners of Ukraine to represent a vast array of its cultures and present their works, highlighting the vibrant fabric of Ukrainian society. Now we continue in this same vein, while shifting the focus to the ones who keep that nation free: its defenders.

Produced and presented by Creative Residence MC6 in tandem with Brother Hill (From Ohio With Love Campaign), and supported by the Creative Visions Foundation, the Carpathian Spring events are an essential container to cultivate in a most trying yet prolific time for creatives in Ukraine. In the frontline of a genocidal war that seeks to exterminate a nation and its culture, the goal of Carpathian Spring is to help support that culture and see it thrive despite all adversity.

Thinking about you today.
Thinking about you every day, these days.

Remembering those times we came to you before the invasion — when we showed up to L’viv on a winters day in 2020, sang in each others languages, joined hands in each others dances, and proved that an international folk alliance was not just possible, but was a powerful tool of solidarity.

People from different worlds and different backgrounds, coming together to celebrate our shared values — and prove that we’re not so different after all — a cause worth representing.

And now, thinking about those times we’ve come to you after the invasion — with songs for refugees, orphans, and soldiers, and duffel bags full of medical supplies for your brave defenders on the frontlines — wrapped up in that flag of our state, signed “From Ohio with Love”.

It’s grassroots folk support — As far as we see it, culture begins at the grassroots. Folk culture, folk music — it’s people’s culture, people’s music. Rooted in the idea that our voices raised can soften any hardship that we face.

And when trouble arrives on the doorstep of our allies — we have to recognize what an alliance really means — and show up to help, however possible. After all, this isn’t just about responding to a crisis — it’s about being there for our friends.

Since the first week of the war, we’ve been throwing concerts for you back here in the states, with rooms full of everyday people raising their glasses shouting “Bud’mo” and “Slava Ukraini”.

People are desperate to help; no matter their politics. Every day Ohioans, they want to help your people — and it’s made me more proud of where I’m from than I’ve ever been.

It’s amazing how in these darkest of times, you can find the greatest in humanity.

I think we’re coming to realize this is what folk is all about. Folk culture, folk music, and now— a folk campaign.

We just wanted to let you know: we’re with you until the end, and we’re not going anywhere. No matter how long it takes, our people are with you.

Because we’re better together, and if we join hands from us in Ohio to you in Ukraine, then our arms are wrapped around the world.

Brethren - ready to reinvigorate our campaigning in Cleveland with a From Ohio With Love Benefit at Edwins too TONIGHT. До Перемоги!

Maybe, just maybe, by the end of the night and with the help of some more generous Ohioans, we can break that $100k mark of donations to the campaign since it launched February ’22. Almost to $90k to Ukrainian causes as of this morning!!

We deliver another round of emergency medical supplies to the front next month, and there is no end the amount of need for these items — when meat grinders like Bakhmut have been running 24-7 for more than six months now — a battle of attrition to the last man standing. One year now since the first round of our Concerts for Ukraine came to their conclusion, raising $12,164 through three concerts in support of .for.ukraine and Fathers Care Inc, who were evacuating at-risk orphans from Kyiv.

This first round was so supercharged it’s hard to wrap our heads around still! Business owners, artists, musicians, poets, activists, volunteers, and all manner of caring citizens of Ohio who showed up to do absolutely everything they could as soon as the call was given. Sending thanks even unto today to all who aided us in those first weeks after the invasion. Your sparks lit a fire that burns still as the work goes on!!
