This summer, we are so lucky to have Sabrina, an intern with OU, join us at The Birth Circle to work on some arts and health integration.

Sabrina is spearheading this amazing project and we’d love for you to join us!

The Caregiver Patchwork Quilt is a collaborative project where caregivers will connect and create a meaningful piece of art that commemorates their experience and time as a caregiver. Patches of garments, onesies, blankets, and other materials will be sewn together as a group. No prior sewing or quilting experience is necessary—caregivers will learn alongside each other with visual artist and Arts in Health student Sabrina. And as a patchwork quilt, it is not meant to be perfect and will be an opportunity to learn and connect. The end result will be displayed at The Nest and Birth Circle events as a physical manifestation of the built community and strength of caregivers. It will be a chance to connect and create a meaningful piece of art!

Whether your baby is brand new and you’d like to include a piece of that newborn hat they got in the hospital, you’ve held on to your favorite outfit for 10 years, or you still have your adult baby’s blanket from 25 years ago, we’d love to connect with you, hear your parent/ caregiver stories, and include them in this piece.

You don’t have to be an active Birth Circle “person” or have ever come to any of our events/ programming.

We have a brief survey to set up some times to work on this awesome project!
