Men diagnosed with breast cancer deserve choices too.

Surgery is often treated like a one-size-fits-all decision, but men should be part of the conversation about mastectomy, chest contour, ni**le preservation when appropriate, reconstruction, symmetry, and what they want their body to look and feel like afterward.

Today would have been Ch*****ne Joy’s 59th birthday.
💀🍾💙🩵💚
Ch*****ne was Cancer Culture’s (formerly Cancerland) original founder, and so much of what we believe about patient voice, disruption and refusing to quietly accept the status quo began with her. She lived with MBC and she died from complications of the disease and its brutal treatments.

Cancer Culture has grown and changed, but Ch*****ne is part of our DNA.
 
Every time we give patients space to tell the truth, every time we push research to the center of the conversation and every time we make a little noise where people would prefer quiet, she’s still in this work.

Happy birthday, old friend. THIS is the change you made. We wish you were still here to see it.

Our runway is beautiful, the protest gets attention and our community is everything…

But there is only ONE reason for all of it: Research.

Cancer Culture puts YOUR dollars behind scientists like Rena who’s in the clinic with patients and UCLA Jonsson Cancer Center AND in the lab asking serious questions about MBC.

We don’t want to tell you, “We raised $200K for research,” and leave it there, THIS is who and what we’re funding.

One of the most interesting things she is studying right now is gedatolisib. She is the UCLA principal investigator for VIKTORIA-1, which studies gedatolisib + fulvestrant, with or without palbociclib, in people with advanced/metastatic HR+/HER2− breast cancer whose cancer has progressed after prior therapy. Gedatolisib targets the PI3K/AKT/mTOR pathway, so this research is particularly relevant to cancers driven by that signaling pathway.

Eva founded and hosts the Met Gala SCV every year and raises money specifically to fund MBC research.

Dr. Rena Callahan and other HCP, physicians, and scientists attending the MetGala SCV Met Gala SCV in March of 2026, where they raised $200K to fund work in her lab.

Our events include survivors, people living with metastatic breast cancer, and previvors. Different ages, bodies, backgrounds, diagnoses and relationships to this disease.

And YES, men get breast cancer too!

Our A-1 from day one!!

Dana Donofree and AnaOno have been there since the beginning, since Ch*****ne Joy, since the first 12 models on the runway, creating lingerie for bodies changed by breast surgery and making damn sure those bodies are seen, celebrated, and represented.

Dana, we’re grateful for the enduring partnership, but even more grateful for the decade-long friendship.
