ISEP’s Digital Ambassador, Christian Sanchez, studies Marketing at East Carolina University. But this semester, he ventured beyond the Carolinas to study abroad at Universitat Pompeu Fabra in Barcelona.

When he’s not in class, Christian attends local sporting events and takes full advantage of Barcelona’s central location and transportation options to visit nearby European countries, experience new customs, and learn more about different cultures.

Follow Christian on TikTok at sanchez.explores for more glimpses into his exciting semester in Barcelona!

Claire Rolbiecki, an Environmental Science student at the University of Wisconsin–La Crosse, took her studies to Nelson Marlborough Institute of Technology in New Zealand for unique hands-on learning opportunities.

Since arriving in Nelson, she has been gaining real-world experience by sampling macroinvertebrates and clams at Tapu Bay to assess estuary health! Coming from a place surrounded by freshwater, exploring marine and coastal environments has been especially eye-opening. She also loves NMIT’s unique Aquaculture program, where students focus on one class every 4-6 weeks. Only two weeks in, Claire already feels she is understanding the material in a deeper, more meaningful way.

Mia Clancy, who studies Political Science and Spanish at the University of Vermont, is spending her semester abroad in Morocco at Al Akhawayn University in Ifrane (AUI)!
From riding over sand dunes in the Sahara Desert to wandering through riads in the city, Mia finds inspiration in both the beauty of AUI’s campus and the landscapes of Morocco. The kindness of the staff and student body makes it easy for her to enjoy the social environment just as much as the physical one. When she is not admiring North African art, Mia enjoys spending time outdoors with friends. Looking at her photos, it is easy to see why she says, “Studying abroad has been one of the best decisions of my life.”

Jasmine Williams of Kent State University is spending her semester abroad in Thailand at Thammasat University, studying Journalism.

Swapping the frigid temperatures in Ohio for the everlasting sunshine in Thailand is just one of many ways Jasmine has found warmth while studying abroad. When she isn’t taking breathtaking photos of golden Buddhas and the glistening temples, Jasmine enjoys eating (and photographing) tantalizing Thai cuisine and making memories with new friends from all over the world. The welcoming nature of her new friends has helped Jasmine settle into her new environment. There is a reason Thailand is known as the “Land of Smiles”!
