Sons and Daughters In Touch

Sons and Daughters In Touch America's Gold Star Children from the Vietnam War. Providing peer support since 1989. Sons and Daughters In Touch was just that!

In 1989, Sons and Daughters In Touch was established as America’s next national Gold Star Families organization. In the late 1980s, American Gold Star Mothers and Gold Star Wives of America led the way since the end of WWI and WWII.

15 years after the end of the Vietnam War, it was time for America to have an organization supporting Gold Star Children. SDIT.org • IG, YouTube & LinkedIn:

During this 'Month of the Military Child' what a powerful message from the Gary Sinise Foundation reminding the nation that being children isn't merely defined by age but that as Gold Star Children grow older their life experience remains.

Though the Vietnam War ended more than 50 years ago, the Gold Star Children whose fathers were lost in that war are now middle aged and they are proud, resilient and honored to be giving a face and voice to the mission of uplifting America's Gold Star Families.

Today is Gold Star Spouses Day, a day we pause to recognize the incredible strength, resilience, and enduring love of those who lost their partners in service to our nation.
From the World Wars to the present day, across every branch, and through every generation, Gold Star Spouses have carried a profound sacrifice with unmatched grace.
As a Gold Star Children’s organization, SDIT looks to our moms as pillars of strength. You showed us how to honor our heroes, how to keep their stories alive, and how to carry on with courage. You are our heroes, too. ⭐️❤️
To every Gold Star Spouse: Your sacrifice is seen, your loved one is never forgotten, and you are not walking this path alone.
We honor the fallen, and we honor you.

May the Easter blessings of peace, love, and joy be your gifts this season.

March 25: National Medal of Honor Day

On this day, our nation recognizes the extraordinary courage and sacrifice of U.S. military members who received the nation's highest combat decoration.

Established by Congress in 1990, Medal of Honor Day recognizes the 3552 Medals of Honor presented since 1863. Today, the history of the Medal of Honor is personified by the 64 living recipients who received the Medal for actions from the Korean War to February 2026 in Operation Absolute Resolve in Venezuela.

In February 2026, Navy Captain Royce Williams received the Medal of Honor for his aerial actions in 1952 when he shot down four Soviet MiG aircraft in a solo dogfight. Capt. Williams is the only surviving Medal of Honor recipient from the Korean War.

On Memorial Day 2025, ABC News aired this story of long-lost recordings of Army Capt. Riley Pitts from the warfront in Vietnam prior to him being killed there on October 31, 1967.

On that day, during an intense firefight in dense jungle, Capt. Pitts motivated his men, utilized untold resources to neutralize the enemy, and displayed conspicuous gallantry, extraordinary heroism, and intrepidity at the cost of his life.

On December 10, 1968, Captain Pitts' family proudly accepted the Congressional Medal of Honor from President Lyndon Johnson and our grateful nation.
