Day 2 at the Inn was very successful. The days events included serving the guests a bag breakfast and coffee. We conducted several minor repair jobs that included replacing window panes, repairing doors, constructing an air conditioner ventilation system. The evening saw the missionaries serve 141 guests for dinner. The missionaries served multiple roles to make a successful meal. The evening concluded with a short reflection in the chapel.

CBC missionaries began their week of service in Philadelphia with a deep clean of the Inn. The first Monday of each month is dedicated to this work, helping prepare St. Francis Inn to continue welcoming and serving those in need.

In the evening, missionaries helped distribute donated loaves of bread, takeout dinner bags, and toiletry items to guests.

The day ended with Mass in the chapel, followed by the missionaries’ first evening meal together. A meaningful first day of serving, praying, and growing in community.

Today we honor St. Thérèse of Lisieux, the “Little Flower,” whose simple acts of love continue to inspire us every day. As the patron saint of Commissioned by Christ, she reminds us that no act of service is too small when done with great love.

On this feast day, we give thanks for her guidance and pray that her example of faith and compassion continues to guide our mission trips and service around the world.

St. Therese Novena - Day Nine

Dearest Saint Therese of Lisieux, you said that you would spend your time in heaven doing good on earth.

Your trust in God was complete. Pray that He may increase my trust in His goodness and mercy as I ask for the following petitions…

(State your intention clearly and confidently)

Pray for me that I, like you, may have great and innocent confidence in the loving promises of our God. Pray that I may live my life in union with God’s plan for me, and one day see the Face of God whom you loved so deeply.

Saint Therese, you were faithful to God even unto the moment of your death. Pray for me that I may be faithful to our loving God. May my life bring peace and love to the world through faithful endurance in love for God our savior.

Loving God, St. Therese never doubted that her life had meaning. Help me to see how I can bless and love everyone in my life. Especially…

I love your people, Lord. Help me to love them more!
I reflect you to the world, Lord. Help me to reflect you more clearly!
I rely on you, Lord. Help me to rely on you more!
I accept your will, Lord. Help me to accept your will every day!
I try to forgive, Lord. Help me to forgive 70 times 7 times!
I am humble, Lord. Give me more humility!
I see you, Lord. Help me to see you more!
I trust you, Lord. Help me to trust you more!
I love you, Lord. Help me to love you more

Glory be to the Father, to the Son, and to the Holy Ghost. As it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end.

Amen.
