NCEA is pleased to welcome Alan Barnicle, M.S., as director of professional learning, effective September 2. He is an educator at heart, having begun his career in the classroom as a language arts teacher. Mr. Barnicle brings over 15 years of experience with creating professional development modules and instructional coaching. For nearly three decades, E-Rate has helped schools provide reliable broadband connectivity that supports teaching and learning, school data systems, cybersecurity, and equitable access to educational opportunities. The FCC's proposal to potentially eliminate or alter the E-Rate program was published in the Federal Register, opening a public comment period that will help shape the future of school connectivity nationwide.

NCEA has joined with our E-Rate partners to support advocacy efforts, launched SaveOurERate.com, a central hub with resources for filing FCC comments, contacting members of Congress, and taking other actions to support the program. NCEA will be filing comments on the FCC's proposal, which are due by October 13, 2026, and will publish them on the NCEA website.
