Huge thanks to our friends from New Balance, who spent yesterday morning giving our fencing a fresh coat of paint as part of! ☀️

They volunteered their time as part of to help spruce up the farm, and the results speak for themselves. It’s amazing what a few hours of teamwork (and a lot of paint rollers!) can accomplish!

We’re so grateful to have community partners who pitch in every year to keep this farm shining. Thank you for helping keep Ironstone looking its best! 💚🐴

This past Saturday was all smiles at Ironstone Farm! 🐴💚 Our partners from joined us for another monthly program, spending the day learning alongside our herd. The kids spent the day getting hands-on with our herd, working through obstacle courses, practicing grooming and groundwork, and heading out on the trail.

It’s always a joy to see everyone find their stride. Watching someone go from nervous and unsure to confident and beaming, sometimes in the span of an hour, never gets old.

Thank you to our friends at Love Bus and every family who joined us for such a meaningful day. Here’s to many more moments of growth and connection ahead!

The reviews are in! Our rider, Cori, just gave Jack his first bath of the season. 🐴🧼

Caring for a horse is just as therapeutic as riding! Activities like bathing strengthen fine motor skills, focus, sensory processing, and a whole lot of pride for our riders. That’s why they’re a key part of our program. Especially in the summertime!

Jack is a happy sport about the whole thing, too. 💚

We are so proud of you, Emma! 🤩

Congratulations to our very own Emma Deeken on being awarded the Anita Howe Memorial Scholarship from Andona, recognizing high school seniors for their academic achievement, community service, extracurricular involvement, and character.

That last one doesn’t surprise us one bit!

Emma truly embodies the Ironstone spirit of joy, hope, growth, and inclusivity. Over the years, she has dedicated nearly 600 hours of community service to our farm as a volunteer & student worker, before officially joining our staff. We wouldn’t be the same without her.

We’re also deeply honored that Emma chose us as the recipient of $500 donation made in her name through the scholarship. It means everything to our herd.

Second picture: Instructors Becca (second from left) and Shannon (center) were proudly at the ceremony to cheer her on.

Congratulations Emma 💚 We are so grateful you’re part of our family!

Three years ago, Carolyn came to Ironstone through our partnership with the Manchester VA. As an Air Force veteran living with PTSD, anxiety, and ADHD, she was struggling to find the physical and mental space for emotional healing.

💬 “From the first therapeutic equine session, I knew I was in the right place. The other veterans and our instructor, Dave, made me feel welcome.” — Carolyn

Through her time in our program, Carolyn has developed greater patience, focus, and calm in her daily life. She’s also found something equally valuable: a community of fellow veterans who understand her experiences and support one another both in and out of the saddle.

Today, Carolyn continues to ride each week and is even pursuing her goal of becoming a certified therapeutic riding instructor so she can help others discover the same healing she found at Ironstone.

Carolyn, your resilience, kindness, and determination inspire us every week. We are so proud of all you’ve accomplished and honored to be part of your journey. Congratulations on being our Rider of the Month! 🌟

Something special happened this spring!🌸We welcomed back our friends from Riverbend Merrimack Valley (formerly Lowell House) for a four-week program at the farm.

Horses are uniquely attuned to human emotion, and that bond creates a sense of calm, trust, and presence that can be truly powerful for people in recovery. Healing looks different for everyone, and we’re proud to offer a space where it can happen through new experiences, shared community, and the unique connection between humans and horses.

Thank you to our partners at Greater Lowell Health Alliance for helping make it all possible!

This Memorial Day, we honor our fallen. We send a message of love to family and friends of those Americans who gave their lives: we will not forget your loved one and the loss you have endured.

There’s something special about the way animals help people feel welcomed exactly as they are.

For individuals living with dementia, shared moments with our herd can spark conversation, encourage connection, reduce stress, and create opportunities for joy and meaningful interaction without pressure or expectations. Sometimes, all it takes is a quiet moment at the table, a laugh, or a donkey resting his head beside you to help someone feel comfortable, present, and seen.

We’re so happy to welcome our friends from back for another spring session at Ironstone Farm 💚
