Ironstone Farm Improving physical, emotional & cognitive well-being through equine-assisted programs

09/03/2026

Hello new followers!👋 A few days ago, one of our reels took off, and many of you found us for the first time. Welcome to the herd!

We wanted to reintroduce ourselves in the best way we know how: through the riders and families we work with.

Stick around! There’s a lot more heart where this came from. 🐴💚

Last week, we launched something new: Our first-ever Senior Camp! 🐴☀️

Over four consecutive days, we welcomed 20 residents and caregivers from Bridges by EPOCH at Westford, a memory care assisted living facility, for a multi-day equine experience. Two hours a day of grooming, learning, and leading our herd around the arena, plus plenty of conversation, stories, and laughs from our “campers.”

We are incredibly grateful to Greater Lowell Community Foundation, whose generous grant made this new project possible!

Here’s to many more days like this to come. 🐎💜

We were honored to welcome back Congressman Seth Moulton to Ironstone Farm today. As a veteran himself, he continues to be a powerful advocate for those who’ve served and for the programs that support their healing.

During his visit, he spent time with our veterans program participants, met our star therapy horse, Columbus, and saw firsthand how our hippotherapy program helps individuals facing physical and cognitive challenges.

Congressman Moulton has been a true champion for expanding access to therapeutic services like ours, and we’re so grateful for his continued support and advocacy for this work!

That feeling when the teamwork shines and you and your horse make the perfect turn. 🐴😍

Who knew there were so many ways to eat a popsicle? 🍧🐴

Our summer campers made frozen treats for our herd, and it’s safe to say everyone had their own strategy when it came time to eat up.

Which one is your favorite?

Music can evoke memories, feelings, and emotions that are often difficult to express for those with dementia. It can also stimulate social bonding and improve communication between people with dementia and their caregivers.

Leading our horses alongside their loved ones, moving to the rhythms of songs that mean the most to them. This simple act of being ‘in charge’ offers a renewed sense of purpose, connection, and partnership. It’s a beautiful reminder of the bonds we can strengthen through horsepower.

Kinda chic to transform lives through equine-assisted services. 🐴💚

Change of plans for this Friday, 8/14! A few things outside our control meant we had to reschedule our movie night.

But don’t worry! Cozy blankets and cooler nights under the stars are an upgrade.🍂🎬

Be sure to grab your tickets in advance next time around! It helps us lock in the date for good and avoid any last-minute changes.

New date coming soon 🐴
