The idea of Strongwater began in 1997 when a group of local citizens wanted to integrate philanthropic with land conservation goals. Strongwater was incorporated as a private, non-profit 501(c)(3) organization on September 4, 1998. Strongwater operates through the continued efforts of dedicated volunteers, from the Board of Directors to those whose functions include working at the barn, on the grounds, in therapeutic sessions and in the administration of our programs.

The Strongwater Series continues with the Meet the Herd chapter - this time featuring Shelly.

Filmed out in the paddock during afternoon grain time, Elena Kehoe shares why Shelly is such a special part of the herd at Strongwater Farm.

From her kind personality to her playful habits (including flipping her ground feeder once she finished eating), Shelly brings both warmth and character to the barn community.

This video also highlights some of Shelly’s accomplishments outside of Strongwater. Under the name “Satin’s Shelly,” she was recently recognized by the AMERICAN MORGAN HORSE ASSOCIATION, INC.

The Meet the Herd chapter continues to share the personalities and stories behind the equine partners who make this work possible each day.

The Strongwater Series continues with the Meet the Herd chapter - this time featuring Puma and Harley.

In this video, Shannon Giguere introduces two horses whose personalities and presence contribute to the environment at Strongwater Farm each day.

Filmed in the paddock and upper barn space, Shannon and Starlet Baker highlight what makes each of them unique - from their individual traits to the ways they engage in daily activities.

As with all of our equine partners, it’s not just what they do - it’s how they do it. The way they interact, respond, and connect plays an important role in the overall experience at Strongwater.

The Meet the Herd chapter continues to share the horses behind the mission - and the impact they have in ways both big and small.

The Strongwater Series continues with the "Meet the Herd" chapter - this time with King and Twinkle.

In this video, Sophia Morrissey, Assistant Equine Operations Manager at Strongwater Farm, introduces two horses who bring both connection and personality to the herd.

Filmed out in the paddock on a beautiful day, the conversation is anything but formal - with King and Twinkle showing plenty of interest in Sophia, the camera, and their surroundings. Their curiosity and playful nature are on full display.

These moments are a reminder that each horse brings something unique to the environment at Strongwater. King and Twinkle are known not just for their presence, but for the way they naturally engage with those around them - often drawing people in with ease.

The Meet the Herd chapter is about the equine partners behind the mission - and the personalities that make each interaction meaningful.

And in this case… a little fun and curiosity along the way.

The Strongwater Series continues with the Meet the Herd chapter - this time featuring Fiona and Spud.

In this video, Melissa Salerno and Starlet Baker spend time in the upper barn getting to know two horses whose personalities are as memorable as they are kind.

There’s a lot of laughter in this one - and a lot of personality.

From their individual quirks to the way they interact with their environment (and even the other horses passing by), Fiona and Spud each bring something unique to the herd at Strongwater Farm.

It’s a reminder that each horse is an individual - with their own presence, their own way of engaging, and their own impact on those around them.
