Area 14-Anderson County SC Special Olympics “Let me win; but if I cannot win, let me be brave in the attempt.”

Special Olympics South Carolina’s mission is to provide year-round sports training and athletic competition in a variety of Olympic-type sports for children and adults with intellectual disabilities, giving them continuing opportunities to develop physical fitness, demonstrate courage, experience joy and participate in a sharing of gifts, skills and friendship with their families, other Special Olympics athletes, and the community.

Make plans now to come out to the Anderson County Jeep & 4x4 Extravaganza! It will be a fun time for the Family and there will be plenty of Vendors, Music and Fun! The Band Silver will be there playing live music! Shock City Jeep Club is hosting this huge event! Proceeds and donations from this event will be going to several local charities including Honor For Heroes and our friends over at Area 14-Anderson County SC Special Olympics! Our very own Matthew Hilley will be the MC for the day! Saturday, August 29, 2026 from 10 am until 5 pm. Location will be at the Lights of Hope across from the Anderson Civic Center, Rose Valley Blvd. Anderson, SC. We hope to see you there!

The South Carolina Department of Health and Human Services (SCDHHS) has announced they intend to file waiver renewals with the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) for the Intellectual Disability/Related Disabilities (ID/RD) (SC.0237) and the Medically Complex Children (MCC) (SC.0675) home and community-based services waivers with proposed effective of January 1, 2027.

Two public webinars are being held by DHHS on Tuesday August 25th from 2-3pm and Thursday August 27th from 10am-11am to review proposed changes.
